Thanks Moe - trip is actually business, but I'm allowed to take Tania this time which makes a nice change.  Around the World in 20 days - so it's a bit of a whirlwind (lots of timezone changes).

Wokei - X5ii is crazy powerful.  HD600, high gain, 60/120 and its more than enough volume for me.

Same refined, clear and clean signature as th X5 original - but they've added something.  It seems a little more lively - involving.  Just first impressions - too early to tell yet.

For anyone who's about to get the X5ii though - CAUTION - headphone out is on the right, line-out is on the left.  Just as well I had the HD600s - because if I had been using the DN-2000J I think you might have heard a shriek of pain

Thanks for the heads-up, Brooko, I should have my X5ii + E17K combo tonight when I get back from my business trip. Have become very accustomed to the X3ii setup, so would probably have done a blind headphone/LO jam... now I won't.

Audioengine A5? I have a pair and they have a serious flaw. Loved the sound when they worked but over time they developed a crackle-pop and are unlistenable now. Search around and you'll find it's actually quite common with that model. Go for the A5+ if you are looking at Audioengine as they've addressed the issue with the newer model.

Looking forward to your impressions on the X5 II over in the thread. I like what you've described so far!

Does the A5+ also have the internal DAC? I got the A2+, and that was the big change from the A2. Have them hooked up to my work PC via USB...

No the A5+ doesn't have a dac

Nice feature to have in a speaker that is more than likely going to be used with a PC.

I wonder if the admins would give me a "tribal council leader" tag lmao

It always makes me wonder too when I see those custom messages in the title.  After all, brother Wokei got his custom message in there?  @Wokei : was that by request or just showed up in there?

Regarding your title, I would suggest for a full "Labster tribal council leader"

Ok guys, I'm at the Ariana Grande concert with my twins right now and after a couple of songs from the warming up band (Rixton) I seriously doubt I'll survive so I just wanted to say thank you, it's been an honor hanging around here ;)
