OK here is my casual observation concerning this "SINKHOLE" of a hobby, IE: Earphones and Daps / Amplifiers. There is now a weird ratio of Cost vs. Diminishing returns. Let me explain. For about a month now I've been playing around with a Pair of what I consider "Budget" Earphones. So Tues. Night I took a pair of what some consider to be one of the TOP Audiophile earphones with me on My Nightly 600 mile Route from Detroit to Cincinnati and Back. They are Sennheiser IE8's I also consider them to be among the best I've heard.
Well after Listening to them, about halfway through the Trip I noticed I was "Missing" something in the Senns that the 'phones that were 5x LESS expensive than the Senns Provided. It was most apparent In a progressive Trance Mix of Nadia Ali's "Love Story", however also apparent in Keb Mo's "Everything I need".
I came to the scary conclusion that I actually prefer my Budgets to the Mighty Senns. Oh the Budgets?
DUNU TITANS. Around $115 USD. Absolutely the best I've heard in quite a while. Now that I have almost 400 Hours on them they are AMAZING. I have High Hopes for the Trinity Titans and the KZ's as well.
I think the IE8's have become a pair of White Elephants. Damn China.
