Down in Vancouver visiting my mum at the moment. Hooked up with @x RELIC x tonight for a beer. Very pleasant time. Cheers to the Lab for new friendships!

Craig got to briefly try out Layla, Noble 6, FLC8S, MSR7 and ATH-CKX9. Lucky boy... Will let him report on them.

Awesome! I'll have to get up to Vancouver sometime and bug Craig, too

Best date I've had in years!

I was prepared to put that random rowdy skinny dude in a choke hold if it came down to it, lol! :veryevil:

Thanks Eric for bringing along some toys to play with! Here's my brief initial impressions with very limited listening. Grains of salt and all that....

Layla: Not only am I glad I didn't pony up for the JH 'flagship' because I didn't find it $1300 more capable, I actually prefer the Angie's tonality. Better mids on the Angie for sure.

Noble 6: Great IEM, more bass weight/impact than I was expecting from what I remember of my first audition. Bass was a bit loose as well. Good extension overall, great treble. Quite a capable IEM but perhaps a bit too bass heavy for me. Can't wait for my K10 CIEM.

FLC8S: Very cool IEM. I was surprised how small it is. Good sound. Less extension than the Noble 6 or Layla. Overall a warm sound, but I suspect swapping the tuning nozzles/ports could change this. Still, for the price and available options I was impressed. I think the triple hybrid works well.

ATH-CKX9: For around $100 I'd use these on the go any day! Not the best extension, a warm overall signature, but very enjoyable regardless. Interesting ear hook design that works well.

Thanks Eric for taking the time to meet and bringing along some gear for me to try out. I would have brought some myself but most of my gear is on the large side, or you've heard it already. Had a great time and appreciated your interesting stories!

Just shave your head @Mr Trev. That's what I do when I want to look young. Works damn well for me, too

Too lazy to go that route. Besides I'm risking my life everytime I shave anyways (I'm a bit of a klutz, and a bleeder

These are my latest stands (in addition to the Lab1's). Very cheap, if you don't consider the cost of the contents:

Hell, I'd drink to that

(you just need to upholster one with a crown royal bag - the old ones that were actual velvet)

How's the x2 treating you? Haven't seen you in the x2 thread bitching about glue or anything?
Hows it compare the the 7xx? I passed on that hoping the x2 would go on sale - which they did (and it seems like the 7xx isn't as limited as they claim, so I expect many drops to come)

Sometimes we all take one for the team right?

I ordered these it was just too fascinating not to. They come in whatever way you would like them put together. I ordered the 3 Knowles armature version.

I'll report back on them when they come in

How about reporting back with the link??

Contact the seller for additional info on how to order the custom BA versions.

Easy earphones seems really solid with what they offer. I got a hybrid coming in as well that's said to be a more linear and extended treble competitor to the LZ A2. Also have a dual hybrid coming from them as well.

Exciting times. Lots of obscure hybrids hitting the market

You're welcome and likewise, Craig. A good evening...

And since this is one of the tunes we played with, thought I'd share. Listen to that bass!

No troubles here with the X2. Haven't been on the bitch thread. What's the glue issue? Much fuller and baser than the K7XX.

Apparently Philips has changed their manufacturing process so that now the earpads are glued on. A whole bunch of cosmetic QC issues too. There's been much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I would stay far away from that thread if I were you. The fear mongereing there is pretty mind blowing. IIRC your X2 was alright right? If thats the case, that thread will only make you doubt your purchase :P

Again I would suggest stay far away from that thread ;)
