They have a pivot at a small angle, and they bend further back depending on your ear size. It does stay in contact with them so its like an on over ear. Ill record when I get the chance.

Interesting! I only know of the Koss Pro/450 that also has them but it's the earpds that move too.

Just thought i'd throw in the pic of the membrane (dt480). That pink outer layer is glued and the dome is inverted. Really strange stuff. I believe the membrane is same in dt48.

It's such a weird driver and the threaded magnet lets you adjust the magnet distance from voice coil thus altering the sound.

I was more surprised at how the membrane feels. It felt like aluminum foil, and the pink surround is papery. Also very easy to poke a hole in the aluminum.

But yes, I guess it was interesting experience to see that hidden secret sauce of the Germans.

True it basically is some sort of paper and aluminum foil, lol. But they sound so good once you mod them. It is, I was delving into Senns for a while, now back with Beyers. Been spending time with the DT 700 and DT 900 Pro X. Those are actually very consistent drivers, Beyer finally truly addressed their driver consistency issues. They were forced to fully automate the driver making process due to how much precision placement of the voice coil required instead of doing it by hand with the other drivers.
