The Headphone Driver Pics Thread

Misunderstanding. Those flakes are magnetic and impossible to remove from the magnetic gap. Can't be repaired. Only solution is to change the bad driver for a working one.

OK, now I understand. Not a surprise this can't be fixed, or at least not easily. Thanks for explaining nonetheless :)

Here is driver of iBasso SR2 and was very surprised at the quality and it's first time I've seen a long throw yoke in a headphone speaker on mid level can.

Dead Koss HV/2 driver
To get the driver off the baffle, I had to cut through the 4 plastic tabs that are melted shut like peened bolts.
The driver back will then just fall off the baffle tearing the voice coils like cobwebs, as the metal ring that holds the diaphragm is friction-sealed to the baffle.
(the entire driver is basically a weird sandwich of magnet-housing, diaphragm+aluminium ring and baffle altogether)

Only try this if you have a dead driver.
It is likely not possible to disassemble and keep it functional.

Also, notice the card ring spacer in the 4th photo - don't see that very often.

Awesome shots sir! If I may ask, were these done by a smartphone? I doubt it, but they're getting better and better, so I can't tell these days :)

ah, right, although chances of a person actually keeping a good chunk of drivers on hand is pretty rare... right?

Not around these parts :D

It's cool seeing that folks in here enjoy taking drivers out and discussing them. Very cool!

Hifiman Deva Pro, with 'stealth' magnets doing a terrible job as usual, just standing right there out in the open.
