I would consider selling my HF2's for 1200 USD or more...

I am enjoying the HF2 but the short cable is ridiculous. It doesn't reach my listening chair 6 ft away from the stereo. Why did Grado shortchange us on the cable length?

I think of getting an extension cable everytime I listen to it!!
I was thinking of getting cheap grado cable, but recently found out those were freely given to RS-1 buyers. (I don't want to spend $40 on free cable)
Any suggestion for solid extension cable?

I have a suggestion for the previous two posters. Why don't you consider selling your unique and collectable Grado HF2 for a handsome profit and put the proceeds towards a readily available Grado RS1i with a longer cable?

For those with set ups that demand longer cords the shorter HF-2 cord is annoying. Any headphone extension cable will give added length.

For those who would not consider an extension cable but like Grados otherwise, I find the HF-2 and RS-1(i) different, but equal.

Yes my chair is a rolling lounger and it doesnt reach hence I havent used my grados in a month or 2 cept for quick sessions.

What cable would be identical to the one in the phones for extension? Or would not change the sound at all? I want it strictly HF2 and nothing else but with another 4 feet or so.

I don't believe the extension cable will affect the sound. I highly doubt you will find one the same thickness as the "new" Grado cables. I use the Grado extension that came with my RS-1, but any extension should work.

If you really want it to look the same you might want to consider a recable. Perhaps one of the DIY could help.

I like the HF2 more than the RS1. I just think the short cable is useless! These headphones are a good candidate for recabling to make them more convenient to use.

A local friend claimed in a minimeet that he prefers the HF2 to the PS1000!

Seriously speaking though I love the tonality and clear-yet-smooth treble of these cans, I can foresee myself using these for a long time until I have the funds to afford the JH13Pro.

For now, a J$ headband is forthcoming.

I also find the cable short when you want to sit in your listening chair.

I found a 15' on ebay for about $25. Guy makes them custom length and color using Canare cable and Neutrick jacks/adapters. Mine looks great in purple and no issues w/ sound. Great deal.
