Maybe you should try to start again.

1) fully charge the player
2) upgrade to the latest firmware (2.10)
3) format and chkdsk the internal memory from a PC
4) reset the player to factory defaults
5) set it up (language, gapless, display, etc)
6) load some music on the internal memory
7) try to reproduce the problem

First, thanks for the input. Have done all of the above and what i get is playback failed file not found.

I had this issue with a camera a few years back, i would take some photos load to the computer all good, other times after taking photos and trying to upload to the computer it would say files empty. Issue bad memory card.

OK, last question(s) - did you try playback from browse or artist/album mode, did you refresh the database?

Are there any plans to fix the issue with Korean text not working in English mode? It seems like it would be an easy fix, considering that Chinese and Japanese text shows up.

I would think that changing the font to one that has a full set of characters should do the trick?

That's a workaround, not a solution. It's like saying I shouldn't be able to view Asian text at all when the language is set to English, yet it clearly works for Chinese and Japanese.

There is not one to update.

I talked to the Disney tech this afternoon and he knew exactly what i was talking about and said it was not an isolated manufacture`s issue as he has seen and heard of the same issue with devices from all of the manufactures, including Apple, Sony, LG ect. So this built my confidence back up in the Fiio product, it sounded so good when i did listen to it, i really want it to work.

Heard from the Micca Store and they want to send me a new X3. Now that`s what i`m talking about!!!

What i think the problem is, is that in the font file, korean isn't included, this is the case when you see blocks.
Changing the font file to one that includes korean, japanese, chinese, and the Western alphabet, isn't a workaround, it is the solution.

I am glad to hear that. Customer service is one of the few ways left for retailers to distinguish themselves from their competition with all of the price fixing these days, and it has resulted in a marked improvement in the overall service offered by retailers both physical and virtual in all avenues of the consumer available market.

As far as your feelings about the X3, I am also happy to hear this as well. As easy and natural, as it may be to dismiss a manufacturer completely off your radar after what appears to be a bad purchase, the reality of the situation is that this is not a logical reaction. Now, if several other posters had complained about an identical or similar issue with their X3 then I could understand this knee jerk reaction, but it is almost assuredly a one off or isolated defect and is not truly indicative of the products actual overall quality.
