Actually no. The Android adapted to the future FiiO DAP will be a very basic version of the OS. It is there to provide an OS to run the music application and handle all the I/O, not so you can play Angry Bird. To do that, all you need is 300MHz processor because that's all Android needs for its basic function. A processor like that is actually not that uncommon - companies like Samsung and Qualcomm, etc, all have specific lower power processor designed to do just that. Even Sansa Fuze has ARM9 processor that run up to 250MHz. I am using Galaxy Ace right now and the Adreno 200 CPU has a separate core (out of the 800MHz ARM11 main processor) just for handling music and basic cellphone function. I listened to over 1 hours of music and the battery barely dropped 1%.
I can tell you right now RB is not going to go onto X3, even if FiiO wanted it to. The binding contract between FiiO and the supplier means that FiiO will not be able to get its hand onto the source code. Without the basic source code, it will be a very hard time for the RB team to get started especially since the processor is unique to the supplier (no pin out or I/O info available)
They also wasted a lot of money and resource. 10k controller chips were ordered when the project started, now they have no software to use it. Not to mention over 6 months of R&D.
Here is part of a discussion I had with James about 2 weeks ago. He went to meeting with the supplier the next day to keep track of progress. In fact, I think he told me the company went to meeting with the supplier almost every week or two over the last few months. Do you think they don't want X3 to happen? It just reached a point where James doesn't want to risk the company name anymore on an unreliable suppler.
