I'm very pleased with the X1, and only wish the menu would highlight the selection better, as I'm getting old, and find it hard to see the border only highlight. FYI, my X1 has firmware 1.4.​

Have you tried the custom theme created by TCD1975, yet?  That may help with your selection issue.  If not, you can always revert back to the original firmware.

  Only 50 hours?

I know. 50 hours isn't that great compared to the Cowon M2, which is listed as having 90 hours of battery life. Cowon made another player(I forgot the model number) which has 110 hours of battery life.
Of course there is the Sony SRF-59 radio which gets 100 hours of play time on one AA battery. I could carry a few spare batteries with me for huge battery life.

  I've had my X1 for a bit over one month, before that I was using my X5, before that was a Sony, and before that was a iPod classic(and all Apple iPods from 2003), before that was Sony MD players. In the beginning it was Sony Walkmans, my favorite WM was a

WM-DD100 Boodo Khan.​

 

I find my X1 to be of super audiophile quality. It's no better or worse than my X5, just different. It does not have the power of the X5, but I don't need that sort of power using my PM-3 or Koss 75 head phones.​

How much battery life are you actually getting from your X1? Do you use it with an external usb battery pack, or do you find it is enough? I am satisfied with Rockboxed Sandisk Clip+ and Clip Zip players, except for the battery life. The battery life on the X1 seems to be even less  than the 15 or so hours they give. Does the X1 have a metal or plastic case, or is it a combination of the two? I wonder if Rockbox will become available for Fiio players. I want to become a Fiio fan, however the current ones seem like they would leave me hungry for more battery life.

Plug it in and charge it. There is more to DAP than battery life.

I hate running out of power when i want to listen to music. Without power there is no music. When i am walking around I can't plug it in, except to a usb battery pack, and that must have power in it.

You walk around for 15-50 hours at a time? Seem hard to please. If that's the case the Fiio is not for you.

I get plenty of time out of mine. But I have chargers in my car and at my desk, so even if it was as low as 6 hours, that would be fine.

Hi I have the X1 and the Mont Blanc, what position I should use on the jack output option to use the X1 with the Mont Blanc acting as my amplifier for my Grado SR225i ?

Line out is what you want.

Be careful not to use your headphones directly through the jack when line out is selected.

Because if you plug your headphones into a line-out, which by default is at full power - instant ringing ears.  Not recommended.

for a lot of reasons, line outs aren't some "better headphone out" that a clever audiophile thought to use while everybody else is an idiot. ^_^
- the line out is probably above 100ohm so plugging an IEM into it wouldn't be so great.
- the line out outputs 1.5V on the X1, when many IEMs are well above 100db loud with 1V. so you might damage your IEM and most likely your ears.
- the line out bypasses a bunch of stuff because it expects to be plugged into several thousands of ohm(all amplifier inputs are in that range) so that current will never be a concern and only voltage precision matters. it isn't the case with an IEM so in most situations the signal will actually go bad because the DAP may not be able to provide enough current for the headphone.
 
and that's why some outputs are headphone out, and some are line out. and while most(but not all) headphone outs may be very fine plugged into an amp, a line out plugged into a headphone will almost never be fine as far as signal fidelity is concerned.

since the output impedance of the lo is quite big , in X1, it is 108 ohms, as we know the max output voltage of LO is 1.5V, so when you pluged in a 32ohms headphone, the headphones will get 32/(108+32)*1.5=0.32v, means 0.34*0.34/32=3.6mW, it will not damage your headphone but it is quite lound !
