Ok I finally got my nx1 I hooked everything up pressed the select option with box and arrow turned on my nx1 but when I lower the volume on my nx1 with the knob my headphones left side is louder then my right side is this normal until I raise the volume then it's fine It's on low gain

And why does the fiio get really loud when you turn the selection option button on the first time?

I don't know what to attribute any of that to, but maybe you've got an issue with one of your devices. My NX1 has functioned perfectly with both my X1 and my DX90 since the moment I pulled it out of its package. I've never experienced either of those issues.

Hopefully someone else can shed some light on it for you. Have you tested other amplifiers to see whether this issue might be related to your X1's line out?

This is my first amp

It might be because it's not charged all the way

Your Frio should be set to line out instead of headphone out.  Check all of your connections from your dap to the amp, then amp to headphones.  I haven't experienced any issues with my nx1 either.  I use it daily.

It's actually pretty easy to answer these

The difference between left and right is channel imbalance normally found on analogue pots as you start getting very close to minimum volume.  The problem is that the amplifier has too much power for really sensitive IEMs.  As you turn it up, the channel imabalnce will disappear.

The Fiio gets louder going from H/O setting to L/O setting because Line Out is designed to run at highest volume (without distortion) for the cleanest signal possible through to the amp.  The idea is all volume is controlled via the amp itself.

Your real issue may be that you're running a DAP + amp which is simply to powerful for your IEMs.  2 solutions.
  1. Forget about the amp.  If they are really sensitive and you're getting enough volume, chances are you don't actually need one

  2. If you do need an amp (impedance mismatch maybe) - then try amplifying the line-out (it is pretty clean from my experience).  That way you can lower the volume on the X1 to give you enough usable volume on the amp.

So there's nothing wrong with my nx1? I am using my 558 I turn my volume all the way off and turned the knob like super small still left is louder then right move little more the right side gets little louder. Should I refund them and get a new one I am just so OCD about this lololol

And it still get the warning label in select options the one you get saying it will damage your ear and it not plugged in

You'll always get the warning message on the X1 when switching from the H/O to the Line Out.  This is simply to remind you that if you've plugged headphones into the Line Out, and switched the setting, it's going to get very loud, very quickly.  It's just a safety thing.

As far as the 558's go - they are pretty sensitive (112 dB SPL), but they are also 50 ohm, so I wouldn't think that you'd be right at the bottom of the pot on the NX1.  Maybe check the NX1 thread - and see if there are any HD558 owners there?

Based on my NX1 usage, I wouldn't use the "low gain" setting - as was indicated - with full-size headphones anyways.

(I should confess I haven't tried with an X1, as I'm waiting to see if ReplayGain ever gets added; on FIIO's forum a month or two back, a FIIO rep said they were going to look into adding it, but I don't know if he was sincere, or just trying to keep people from asking all the time :P )

I use the nx1 on low gain with my HD 558 without issue.  Perhaps @smy1 should check his left/right balance setting in the X1.  The only complaint I've ever heard or read on the NX1 is that volume is finicky until you get past a certain point, yet I've never had that issue.  I would send it back if everything is correctly set and there are no other issues and the problem still continues because what @smy1 h's described is very strange.  Could just be a bad amp, but you shouldn't have any issues using it with your set up.

I checked my left and right it's 0 I think my amp is bad

it's a very normal and almost impossible to avoid problem on analog volume knobs. the knob is making the contact slid onto a surface with changing resistance and at very low volume it becomes almost impossible to hope for good channel balance.  some stuff are more precise than others, but it is a very famous advice saying that people should avoid using the first 1/3 of a knob on those purely analog stuff.
if you really are too loud at higher more balanced volume level on the NX1(because the imbalance always get smaller at higher volume setting), then maybe use the X1 as a HO, not as a line out and set the volume lower on the X1(digital volume).
and for next time if your stuff don't really need voltage amplification(loud enough with the DAP), try to get an amp that has a low gain value(like 1, or maybe even a negative setting), or an amp with a digital control of the volume(it's the control that's digital, the signal is still analog^_^) that will let you set the volume with great balance even at minimum levels.

Apologies, if this should have been posted somewhere else.

The wheel of my X1 is broken. Turning it doesn't make the cursor move slowly through the control icons, but rather it jumps through. The device is fairly new, no more than a year old. Plus, I take good care of my stuff. Tips, pls?

If still under warranty, contact the place you bought it from or FiiO.

I guess you are right got a new pair and still the same but this time somehow I can use the amp while the headphone symbol is on
