just google how to format a sd card to fat32. it's not a new  or unique question and you'll have plenty of tutorials for all kind of computers with all kind of OS. there is no trap, it's not difficult and worst case scenario, if it doesn't work, you try again. so don't worry about it. :wink_face:

Unfortunately for the FiiO DAPs not all format software works well. Recommend using the device to format the card as it works 100%. More than likely it's allocation unit size that causes issues. Just read the first 200 pages of the X3 Classic thread or the X5 thread and most of the issues with cards came from not formatting in the device.

So we could format the card in the player itself and then use it to update the player? After the format in player, do we have to format it again back to NTFS so it could store files?

I'm sorry but I know nothing of the different file formats!

Stick card in, format through the settings menu, copy files to device, listen with a smile on your face. If you need to update firmware just load the x1.fw file (after unzipping it) to the root of the card (not in any folders), and update.

No need to remove any music files or delete the firmware file after the update. FAT32 is the prefered format to use and there is no need to use NTFS, or exFAT unless you have a single file over 4gb (not likely).

According to the official tutorial, one has to use a card formatted to the Fat32 format. I have a 32GB Micro SD card coming in...Sorry for the newbish question but is that card already formatted to the Fat32 format or do I have to format it with the player first?

SD cards need to be formatted in the device that use it.

I used a FAT32 formatter for mine. When my card was formatted by the X1, my Hifiman player couldn't read the card. After using the formatter, the card can be used in both now

Is there an option of turning on the screen (while the unit is locked/idle) without constantly pressing the power button? I simply don't want to wear the button out, you see.
Also, what's the difference between favorites & (on-the-go) playlists? How many songs can be saved in a single playlist?

Hi There! I rarely used my X1 due to the issue that I've encountered wherein, after finishing all the songs from an album. I was expecting it'll jump right after the next one. Just like if I copied 1 song from a certain album, in order for the other song to play, I need to do it manually. I really like listening to music especially when Im cleaning the feeding bottles of my daughter, and you know that if the song is already finished from an Album and your hands are wet, it's a waste of time wiping your hands and then unlocking the player and then pressing the play button again.
 
I've tried using the X1 again and updated the firmware to 1.3 and I've seen new options like Supports in-line headphones thingy and play through folders and I tried turning it on and then play a song in an Album and I was expecting after the song finished it'll jump to the next album. But to my Dismay it's still not playing. Im not sure if Im doing it wrong or the X1 really don't have that option at all. Can anyone give me an advice on this?
