Why would you do that? You gain nothing from upsampling, it only takes more space and doesn't sound any better.

hey, i want to ask a really dumb question, but i have to ask it. How do i up the sample rate from 44.1 to 24/192?

you don't ^_^. well you can use a software but it's a sad waste of time as you have nothing to gain in term of audio data, but certainly time and space to lose in the process.
some websites sell high resolution tracks that supposedly come from 24bit masters. or you may try to rip some audio DVDs. you can play those files on the X1. the fact that it will sound any better than the same album in 16/44 is widely open to debate.
the X1 will identify the resolution of the track and play it for what it is, no setting to use.

You don't want to. It's never a good idea to upsample, and you can't create more samples from nothing. Software can try to predict the signal between samples but this can cause more harm than good. As far as bit rate is concerned you can't add more information to the word length to create a higher resolution file. A 16 bit file will always be 16 bit. Again, you simply can't add information that isn't there in the first place.

Everything that gets upsampled derives its information from the file being upsampled so there is nothing extra to add and the overall signal will be the same. The only difference you will have is a larger file size with redundant information.

Thanks but there's not much to get excited about there. I'm still holding out for folder advance and the nonsensical back button behaviour fix that were both recently implemented on the X5 :)

I haven't updated my X1 firmware once. I just don't feel any need, it does everything I require, granted just basic folder browsing but I'm not going to fix something that ain't broke, I've never had one freeze or crash, just a stable unit.

Let me check....

Firmware 1.0
