I don't know about iPod video or Studio V, but DX90 doesn't fall into my understanding of 'totally neutral' (though it is also very close) simply because of the use of electrolytic output capacitor, which can be avoided totally with a competent design (which I know iBasso is capable of) and I assume it is there really just for sound tuning rather than DC decoupling.

To your question however - I don't read enough on DX90 but I do get the same general impression of blandness complaints on many of the iDevices. As for Studio V - most Chinese do not like HiSound (the company) and bash it enough that it is almost impossible to tell a biased opinion from an unbiased opinion. Not for me anyway.

All I can say is that there are two different world ( market ) in this global. China and outside China, and how can people have different opinion about one thing .

BTW, we will release some new models in the coming months, includes

E11K, X1, E10K, E12 (For IEM ).

Also, X3K is under developing . of course, it will not be released in the coming soon cause we are too busy.

What neutral player are you currently using ?.....seriously

i would be totally honest here,,,i have a crappy clip+ which is not neutral by a long shot but better than warmer sounding walkman at least.
i was thinking of investing in x1 but now i won't,,,maybe i will get x5 later this year or dx90 based on reviews.

but a warmer player may actually pair nicely with a bit coldish gr07 but will be horrible with super warm, boomy bass pro coppers.

I also have the upcoming E11K prototype, which is arguably the best sub-$100 portable amp (assuming it will remain under $100) I have heard. This combination will serve as the best budget portable setup $200 can buy.

In terms of the dimensions, would the E11K stack up nicely with the X1? Like how the X5 and the E12 pair, that would be nice to see.

Then you are on the wrong thread ...your posting have been on neutral sound and on and on ....what you expect from Clip ...I beg to differ that Clip is crappy...a bit harsh ..,and for that price ..it is an excellent player with decent sound ....X1 never claim to be a neutral sound player from the start .......maybe u should set your search elsewhere instead of being serial poster but not adding any significant contribution.

Seriusly ...

Yes, they do stack up nicely. E11K is just a bit shorter than X1 with the same width.

Aluminum main body (front to the side) with a plastic back cover.

The UI works similarly to some of the mod UI on X5. It is still in early beta stage at the moment so I don't want to comment too much on it.

Please note that this is still an engineering sample, so it might not equal to what we will see on the retail version.

Hah that does seem familiar ;P

Looks good.

X1 has an built-in EQ, right? I plan to use this just as a standalone DAP, so I don't think I will pair it with my pico. Too bulky in my pocket xD

Yes, similar to the one in X5.

Hey Mr. OS, how does the X1's  dac/ amp compare to the FiiO E17??? It is as powerful as the E17s that can almost drive full size cans headphones like the Beyer DT250 250ohms or is the amp section much weaker on these X1s. TBH i was much more impressed the the sound of the dac of the E17s compared to the amp section.

The E17s dac hooked to the Schiit Vali amp sounds amazing, but using the E17 as strictly an external amp everything just sounds so meh.

Just curious how the X1 dac/amp compare to their past models is all, esp. the amp section since the dac is an added bonus. :  )
