YES! I sprayed the silver over the whole headband, waited like a week (didn't have to be that long) put the decal on that I had custom made, sprayed a thick coat of black over the whole thing and smashed a plastic bag over the entire thing. Then I removed the decal while the black was tacky and clear coated the entire thing.

This is the second pair I've done like this, they look much better than the stock HD580.

NICE!!!

That is going to be one sweet crack when your done with it. Are you sticking with the wooden box sides or making up a nice base for it out of something else?

Something like this...

Or Copper...

Whatever it is, it will be excellent!

Thanks! For the time being I'll be sticking with the wood box, but I would like to do something else with it later on. I'd really like a solid metal case eventually.

So I have had my HD700 for about a little less than a month and finally decided to take them apart and give them a paint job. I've wanted a HD700 for a while and always thought it would look awesome in all black, so I think that's what I'm going to do.

The uhh...face plate just pops off. It's got a bunch of snaps on the inside. Once you start the side opposite the input it pops up pretty easily by running a spudger or your fingernail around it a few times. You have to persuade it to get the center up, but it doesn't take too much pressure, not enough to snap anything anyway.

The rest comes apart as you would expect. Torx on the inside of the headband and then a little spring that holds the plastic half of the headband yoke onto the cups.

Voila

To be painted

Ta DAAAAA

Black with blueish green metallic in the paint. It is automotive paint compressed into an aerosol can. I had to repair my cars door last year and had some paint left over, so I put it to good use. I like the paint better on these than on the car. Haha

Casper that's DOPE.

Now I want my HD700's back to paint them.

Did you do the Anax mod or anything else?

Got it. I didn't look closely enough I guess.

I plan to be contributing to the Everything mod gallery pretty soon as I'll be getting out of school in a few weeks. Just got the AD700 and we all know those need paint desperately. Not to mention my ambitious plans to overhaul the HE-400's I have but I might end up wimping out on that.
