Neither. It's a security measure by the browser. They are all different these days. Google Chrome for example is really picky if the link was posted by a mobile browser and even worse if that user was in a different country.

Thanks for code...coupon worked once I added some cheapo iems and got the total to over $100 pre-coupon; no shipping charge either! :)

Could've subbed something else (cables, etc.) to get total over $100 but as the family headphone guy, I get asked if people can borrow a cheap set of iems a lot!

For myself, Monoprice's high EU shipping costs have always included EU VAT so I didn't need to pay that afterwards. This has also been confirmed to me by local DHL staff that handled the customs process.
It is a bit strange though that this is not explicitly stated anywhere on their site.

That is the same with Canada. They are pretty much the only American company that collects sales tax from me. 98% of the time I pay that when it crosses the border. I had my doubts, but it works fine.
