Two, the supply. Adorama seemingly has an endless supply of these "discontinued" headphones. Something makes me think Focal continues to manufacture them just for Adorama, which probably has sold a crapload of them.

Nah, you've got that all wrong. They'll never sell out. Whenever it rains a bit, the HE6SE and Focal Elegia spontaneously accrete in the dark corners of the Adorama warehouse like mildew and they just heap them into wheelbarrows with snow shovels, ready for the next round of clearance pricing. Occasionally they mutate a new headband, but that's about it. It's not inventory at this point, it's infestation.

They seem to be following the HiFiMan HE-6 v3 playbook, keep producing plenty and lower the price a little more every year. I'd imagine they'll turn up next year around this time for $239-269. It also shows you if a company can make money on a "$899" headphone at $299, there might be a tiny bit of markup in that original price
