It has been several months since this price was last available, but it's currently at $98, again.
This did wonders for my PC audio setup, by the way. I really can't overstate just how pleased I am with the SACS9 subwoofer. Sure, you can spend a lot more for tighter, faster, more powerful bass in a living room HiFi system, perhaps, but for a desktop setup, this thing is clean. It has led to my creation of a playlist I named, "Feel the Bass." Pick a genre, any genre, there are many tracks hiding some enjoyable content down in those lower, previously unheard frequencies. And this active subwoofer doesn't honk at one frequency - it offers really nice pitch discernment.
Lastly, whatever you are using in the way of a power amp to drive bookshelf speakers, that amp will find itself able to direct all of its power at frequencies higher than the cutoff frequency you select on the back of the subwoofer. Thus, both my TBI Audio MG3 Millenia power amp
and the 4.5-inch drivers of my Definitive Technology SM45 speakers no longer have to deal with any bass frequencies. I realize this is pretty obvious stuff I'm sharing, but I can hear more resolution in the mids, especially when low-energy signals in the midrange would otherwise have to compete with high energy signals in the bass range. Previously, the mids were
muddied by the amp and bookshelf speakers'
failed attempt to reproduce the bass frequencies, even without using an equalizer or anything else to boost the bass energy.
