Indeed they are pretty ugly, however for a price, if good sonically, it can be tolerated. I assume you are not wearing them as a fashion accessory, out in public. To labor the point , if you can truly get $200 sound for 36 bucks it may be a sacrifice worth taking. A sacrifice for yourself, prolly not a good gift idea.

Just for your information - the Mojo is about $400 shipped to USA from amazon.de - I'm not sure if this helps (don't know how much it would be if you are not located in USA). Sorry can't post link but its easy to find.

i think thats the price with VAT. when you enter an US address they take down the VAT (i think it's 19%).

basically if you're outside the EU, you don't pay VAT. i just tested and it looks like the total is 366 euros shipped to California.

I picked up the PHILIPS Fidelio Black F1/27 for $25 on Newegg as a Xmas gift. Haven't opened the box but they look super nice on the cover art. You can also try the V-MODA M-80 which is around $100 on Amazon.

Both have a slight bass emphasis, but nothing ridiculous and reviews are generally positive.
