I'm probably in for one, even as finances are tight. The sound is going to be different because of the different wood cups. Plus, it will look fantastic. Have the first, and the 2nd was ordered.
I don't get it, people in the U.S. don't pay VAT, even if they import stuff from Europe?
So if I would import stuff to Japan (8% VAT) from the UK (20% VAT) would I save on 12% VAT?

Yep, US people don't pay EU VAT. They do have to pay US import/custom duties.
Here's the way VAT/sales tax works:
If you reside in Country A, and buy from a company based in Country A, you pay VAT/sales tax of Country A.
If you reside in Country B, buy from Country A, you do not pay VAT/sales tax of Country A. What you do end up paying is the import/custom tax of Country B.
I doubt you would pay Japan's 8% VAT - it is more likely to be an import tax/customs duty instead, which can vary depending on the price + class of product. Import tax can actually be higher than VAT in some cases, and you also have to think about shipping + currency conversion.

Yeah, I doubt they will stop with all these collab's. I really want one but spending 500 plus tax isn't an option for me right now .
Does massdrop take paypal though? I have paypal credit and they give you 6 months to pay it off with no interest with purchases over $100.....so if they do take paypal.....errrgh I will probably jump in to get one lol

Do note that as with other powered studio monitors, volume control is on the rear as they are intended to be used with an audio interface (such as the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2), a DAC that allows volume control from the DAC itself or from the playback device, or a passive preamplifier with volume attenuator (such as the Schitt Sys).
