Any of you guys know if these can be used in pairs for a 2.0 system or these are more for center use? I ask because I want something better than the smaller satellites but don't quite have the space (or aesthetics) for those towers.

Yes, they can...If you have space problems, you can check out their smaller single woofer model. With good amp, they can be played really loud without any distortion. Overall unbeatable value.
