Alternatively there's also the Sony MDR CD900ST, which are pretty decent (got mine several weeks ago and loving it). Your mileage may wary depending on where you live though, as they need to be shipped from Japan.

They are good, although the ear pads are a bit thin.  You can get them from eBay for $170 shipped from Japan to the USA:

Or you know, you can use a forwarding service to get them shipped to you, might work out cheaper. As for the ear pads, I recommend these, one of the most popular mod for the MDR CD900STs domestically:

Got me the red/black version :p

BRAINWAVZ HM5 for $89.50 on MP4 Nation.
Edit: You can use the old "fb2012fiver" coupon for an extra 5% off making it $85.02.
Probably more neutral that the recent aforementioned headphones.

Uhhh... dang.
$49 for a relatively thin earpads?
Considering the CD900ST has the same shape (?) as the 7506/V6, why not settle for the thicker and cheaper HM5 pads?

Good deal.  I really like the same OEM Digitech (Jaycar) Pro Monitors I had.  Wish I had not given them to my ex-girlfriend..

Kabeldirekt has nice cables for great prices, they can be had on Amazon. Slightly nicer connector and quality over monoprice with similar pricing.

Some of the really cheap Monoprice cables have some pretty hinky connectors, I've bought several from them that were either too tight or fell apart in my hands.

At least you get what you paid for. Imagine paying $100 for cruddy connectors... :xf_eek:

For the price difference from Monster, you can afford to have 20 fall apart in your hands and still come out ahead.

In other news, I'm listening to the Audeo IEM's and they're really not bad.  I haven't changed the filter yet (not even sure how to tell which is which, since they're not particularly labeled) and already the sound is worth the $50 I paid.  The bass lacks extension and the highs can be a little in-your-face, but the sound is overall decently balanced (not V-shaped, etc).

I agree tho, that the cable feels like it'll snap if you look at it funny.  It's also quite short (only about 3ft to the Y split).

Looking forward to trying the other filter to see if it opens up the bass.
