Considering the he400i is about to come out I would think twice before buying them. however, I don't know if they sound the same.

They are not "about to come out." There is a decent chunk of time that needs to go by until they are released into the wild. I think we're still looking at a good 6 months before they are yielding a meaningful distribution.

What's the verdict on these:
Sennheiser HD 518

I know that the $105 discount isn't genuine, but are these a good buy at ~82$ after taxes?

Futureshop is also selling the HD360 Pro for 70 bucks.

Between the HD518 for $80, the HD360 Pro for $70, and the HD419 for $50, which is a better buy?

I thought March for some reason, my apologies then.

I think you're right, but like anything that new and anticipated, it's going to take some time for supply to catch up with demand. I guess I'm just saying $300 ain't that bad for an HE-400.

I would just get them from amazon

If you get free shipping it'll be cheap and I always feel a bit safer ordering from amazon than any 3rd party company

And don't forget, after they are released, there is the obligatory defect discussion, wait for Chinese New Year, then return/replacement period, comparison between version 1 and version 2, then discovery that version 2 has a frequency response anomaly, then the wait for version 3, then the discussions about "if I order from so and so, how do I know which version I'll get?"

Probably best to give HiFiMan a year or two to get the new models right.

I use the Sennheiser HD 518 for gaming and they sound awesome, you can add a microphone by replacing the cable with the Senn Momentum cable.
