It's too bad that the Image One and Reference One are way too bassy for all but the most extreme listening preferences.

When I first went into Radio Shack looking for the M-80 deal, the guy working the counter was like, try these, they are awesome.  He played some Offspring on the Image One and within a half a second I tore them off my head and said "My god those are horrible.  So much bass."  He said "Really?  Usually people tell me they like the way they sound."

I used to work at RadioShack and 90 percent of the people want bass headphones like Beats. =(

Monster's outlet store has some refurbish Turbine Pro Gold for $125 and Miles Davis Tributes for $99:

Coppers are up there too.  I dig the Tributes, was going back and forth between those and Shure SLC4 before I made the move from IEMs to headphones.  Never heard the Coppers though, definitely curious which I'd prefer.

Thank you for pointing out the Coppers. I just grabbed two.

If anyone is hankering for a pair of trendy cans, the SOL: Republic headphones will be deeply discounted at the Microsoft Store both at their online and brick and mortar stores on a first come, first serve basis.

There are also other excellent deals to come.  It is a part of Microsoft's 12 Days of Deals Christmas Promotion. Let this schedule sheet speak for itself!

  1. Dec 09 - Dell Tablet $99
  2. Dec 10 - Garmin Fitness Watch + $25 Gift card $99.99
  3. Dec 11 - AT&T Nokia 1020 - Free
  4. Dec 12 - Fitbit Flex and Yurbuds Fitness Earbuds w/$25 gift card $99.99
  5. Dec 13 - GTA 5 $20 (assume xbox360 only)
  6. Dec 14 - Surface "complete bundle" combo deal $100 off
  7. Dec 15 - Xbox Music pass 1 year $30
  8. Dec 16 - HP Pavilion X2 13 $599
  9. Dec 17 - 60% off SOL Republic Headphones $40
  10. Dec 18 - AT&T Lumia 1520 Free and $50 app card w/purchase
  11. Dec 19 - JBL Flip Bluetooth Speaker $40
  12. Dec 20 - HP Envy 15 $499

If this pattern continues for the deals, this is how it will be. At brick and mortar stores, the first 20 customers get the full discount or "Doorbuster", followed by a lesser, all-day "Daily Deal" until supplies are depleted. For the online Microsoft store, the first 100 customers get the "Doorbuster" followed by the "Daily Deal" until supplies are depleted.

Today, I actually managed to snag a Dell Venue 8 Pro at a local store for $99. Boy, the deals and this tablet are worth the hype! Luckily, three hours was enough of time to be at the front of the line. But I cannot say how it will be later on.

Would it be safe to assume that these deals start at 9PM PST/12AM EST for the online Microsoft stores?  That JBL Flip speaker looks intriguing.

It was 7 AM PST/10 AM EST for the online deals. From what I read on the techie sites, most people who refreshed their pages on the first second didn't even get it. From what I could tell, driving to a local store two and a half to three hours before was much more hopeful than trying to catch the online promotion.

Still some deals on LCD-2 and T1, I believe...anyone have any experience with them?

doctorjazz,

Love your moniker and all jazz, my favorite genre, everything except smooth jazz. :)

I have LCD2, HE-6, HD-800, Vixen V3, and others, here. Check my profile, if interested. They sound phenomenal with good components. You don't have to go crazy expensive on amps and DACs to get fantastic sound.

HE-6 and Vixen V3 are my favorites and compliment each other nicely. Nothing wrong with the others, though. At that price for the LCD2? I'd snap it up!

Best,

BMF

So, LCD-2 still there, tempting, you really think I should go for it? (not cheap, have to explain to the little lady...)
