The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

I missed the X1 deal... :frowning2: then again...I'd rather hold out for the X2 to drop in price. I'm in no rush.....I am in no....rush.

Patience....I have the K7XX....

Patience is key...

This thread is killing my patience...

And trying to kill my wallet too lol

Honestly I did like the X1 when I had it. For an open headphone, the bass was really nice, especially when listening to EDM. I mean, it's a fun headphone and very immersive and I miss it. But the bass was loose at times and felt a bit uncontrolled at times when the bass would hit hard, well, when I used it with my recon3d and had it set to 100% the surround.

Between 149.99 to 169.99, I think its a deal for the X1, especially if you are on a budget

I never got why  anyone spends so much on amps to get the extra 10%. I like the K7XX because it is easy to drive and sounds really good out of my receiver I don't like spending more on amps and dacs then headphones. If you already own them that's different story. But I find it ludicrous when I read people pair the hd 650 with something like the mjolnir and says it scales.

there's nothing wrong with liking music, many people do. $500 is where diminishing return starts to kick hard in my opinion.

hd600 hd650 he400i dt770 dt880 dt990 t70 t90 shure940 1540 fidelio x2 grado sr80e sr325e rs2e and anything i didn't list on this price range... pick any of those that you like, and it'll be perfectly fine. For somebody that likes music,  they would benefit from having a decent setup and a decent source.

You don't really need a $1000 $2000 headphone and $1000 dac and amps to enjoy music. It's a hobby thing as well too.

I laugh in your general direction.  Especially if you hang around here for very long!

None of this is about "need".

I enjoy my music from my CAL!  I enjoy it even more from the HD 800, HE 6 and LCD 3.

BTW: the now available at $500 HE 500 is better than any of the (mostly-you did include the DT 770) fine cans you listed.

Tyll's InnerFidelity measurements shows the X1 has more distortion than the X2 as well.

Edit:
X1 link: http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/PhilipsFidelioX1.pdf
X2 link: http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/PhilipsFidelioX2.pdf

Not sure how audible the difference is in distortion, though.

Tyll himself said that graphs say one thing, but actually hearing it says another. If you actually HEAR it, you'll note that the X2 is more controlled than the X1. It doesn't take golden ears to hear that.

Listen to the headphone yourself, and you'd understand. You can't go by objective measurements all the time.

If we were always objective, no one would have tube amps.
