The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

I was going to buy this deal until I read that the HM601 only accepts 32GB max micro sd.

I wonder if it's the programming that caps the 32GB or the fact that maybe when this was released when only 32GB microsd were available. For such units formatting 64gb to FAT32 usually does the trick but again...could be the programming of the player in which case even formatting to FAT32 won't work.

Anyone on the HM601 discussion successfully use a 64gb would be a good look up..

Boy, things are heating up. A lot of new deal posts coming up.

Lol, I spent so much money on deals last year, I think I'm going to have to be VERY judicious this year.

I'm going to be patient and wait for those really great deals on things I REALLY need or want.

Trying to hold back. The season is still young!

Indeed. The best is yet to come.

I was really interested in the HM601LE Portable Music Player + RE-400 IEM combo, until I read the reviews for the player. They  agree that its sound is superb, however build quality and quirkiness in operation are worrisome. Size is another problem for me......if it only had a way of attaching to a lanyard or something similar, it would lessen that problem.

Stick the right chips in anything and they'll sound good, designing something that's attractive and easy to use is another thing.

Yamaha EPH-100SL for $91.99 on Amazon, brand new.

"Very Good" sold by Amazon Warehouse Deals, $65

"Like New" sold by Amazon Warehouse Deals, $70.

Excellent price as these have been going between $150-200 forever.

Sound quality wise, are they better than most 100 dollar IEMs? or are there other IEM that excel within that price range? im still new to IEMs and still use 15 dollar IEMs lol...have not really done any higher than that. Im still looking for a 20 to 25 dollar IEM that I could try and move away from my current daily users the soundmagic es18 and UE500vi....i use both for music and for phone calls...

So i guess you could say Im looking for 2 pairs, since I usually switch around alot between them.

But if these are a deal at this price.....hmmm makes me want to not get the new momentum in ears

right now the Xiaomi Pistons are the king of $25... approved by Joker and Tyll. three-button mic, controversial as to if all three buttons work for us smartphones though. Not to be looked down on just because of overhype.

I own both of these and the Yamaha is unquestionably better. Honestly, it's a pretty good deal at the full $150. At $90 it's a steal!

That being said, the Xiaomi is a $25 phone that sounds like an $80 headphone. I like them better than my JVC FXT90.

The frequency balances of the Piston 2 and EPH100 are virtually identical. The Yamaha wins on technicalities - there is less grain compared to the Piston. Also the Piston cable can be a tad microphonic and the design is less comfortable overall.

For $25 the Xiaomi is tough to beat, but if you ask me, the Yamaha is worth the extra cash.
