The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

Can't discuss the drivers? Avoid.

With the exact same specs for impedance and sensitivity, the HE4XX surely has the same or very similar drivers as the HE400i. The difference in implementation seems to be that the 4XX have a major roll-off in sub-bass and a slight emphasis in bass compared to the much flatter bass response of the 400i. Couple that less desirable FR with a less comfortable headband and what has got to be (if past Massdrop exclusives are any indication) lower build quality in a company known for uneven build quality, and the $170 price tag (compared to $250 for the 400i) doesn't look like much of a deal at all. I would suggest people look at the T50RP instead. Cheaper stock, much more of a known quantity, and more mod-able than any other headphone out there. Or just go the for the 400i, it's worth the premium just for the better headband and the beautiful purpley finish, if you ask me.

I don't like the look at all of the HE-400i headband -- it just looks seriously goofy. If the HE-4XX has a more comfortable headband than the HE-400 (which I had and didn't find uncomfortable), then I see the HE-4XX as an upgrade over the HE-400 at least, which I no longer have as I gave it to my nephew.

I bought the idsd bl last week for the 379 price. I'm going to send it back, just not into it with my se846, but if anyone wants it I'll pass along the deal.

Wow, really!? I love the BL with my SE846, it's the best pairing I've heard yet! What did you find wrong?

I like it from my computer but not from the x5iii lineout, makes it too v shaped and it's thicker, everything is fuller, just a little too much for me. I like the black background and the ie match is awesome, it seems more detailed too, I guess I could try to eq it some and see how that works. Basically I just didn't find it to be that much better than the x5iii for the price. I've also probably only listened to it for ~10 hours.

Not to go off topic too much, but, you are using coax line out right? Otherwise you're just using the amp of the ifi, and the dac of the x3. I suggest using the x3iii as just a transport, and running coaxial out to the ifi, letting it be your entire source, at least try before selling. Anyhow, back to deals sorry
