The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
Mar 26, 2017 at 3:11 AM Post #23,686 of 35,337
In the next week or two I'm going to be purchasing an HD800S. Anyone know any good deals for a brand new one or can hook me up with a dealer who can discount for me?

By the way, anyone got any tips to search for headphones on AliExpress? It always just shows a large amount of cables and adapters and I can't ever find the headphones themselves.. I've tried looking up several different models.

Got mine for a good price from Sonic Electronix.

Seems like they have been easing out of headphone business, or at least just massively reduced their inventory with all the sales they were doing last year. Pretty limited selection of stuff since then... wish I had taken that DT1990 deal around xmas

Ironic that you would post this - I'm breaking these in as I type this.  I got mine from Kef Direct, but they sold out quick there. They sound most excellent, especially at this price

(FYI) Amazon will collect sales tax in all states starting April 1. States with high tax take advantage now if you're planning on making a big purchase. Taxes will add up and may kill a good deal, take it from a NJ resident

This is good to know.  Thanks.  This is gonna hurt Amazon somewhat.  Some of the 3rd party sellers on Amazon Marketplace don't charge sales tax.  People will be more inclined to buy from those 3rd party sellers versus Amazon to save on sales tax.  Then again, Amazon is the big bad wolf eating everyone's lunch, so maybe this will just make things a bit more fair.

The Cayin HA-1A Mk2 is $699 on AlaiExpress, and will be $629 in two days. Very tempting, but not thrilled about the potential for shipping damage. This amp has a structural issue that allows it to get damaged in shipping quite easily. Cain says that are working on a solution for the next rev.

At any rate, anyone purchase a semi-fragile item from Ali? I guess it all depends on the vendor. $629 vs. $999 list from a US dealer (musicteck).

Update on the Ali Express "deal". It's the 220v version, so not good for me. Drats.

Allan - isn't the red switch on the back (left of the AC cable plug) for toggling between 110V / 220V ?!

Hot dang! It might be. I will ask Cayin about that. Assuming it is, the question of buying this amp with effectively not warranty and send it back to china if there is an issue still looms.

Crud. From post #54 of the HA-1A MK2 thread

I'm thinking of picking up one of the HA-1A MK2 but the ones I find are the 220 volt. I see the photos of the back there is a volt switch that is set on the 230 volts is the other setting for 115 volts or do I need to look for a U.S. model? Before I get it shipped for china I would like to make sure.
Thanks

The production run of HA-1Amk2 does not have a voltage switch on it. Only the early version has the voltage switch and we only sold a few of those in Mainland China market. We have replaced all our desktop equipment with fixed voltage design in order to fulfill the latest electrical safety requirement in Mainland China. This has affected our production flexibility to certain extend, but we have no option but to follow the recommendations.

For this reason, I do not recommend you to buy HA-1Amk2 from China/Hong Kong (i.e., 230volt version) and mod the power supply to 115v for US usage.
