Roland UA M10 USB-powered DAC/amp with two outputs, supports DSD, $69.99

Just picked up one up...

Here is some info on it here on Head-Fi, as you can see it was previously $299: http://www.head-fi.org/t/752076/299-roland-mobile-ua-usb-dac-amp-with-s1lki-1-bit-dsp

^the deal killer is that there was a question regarding FLAC support, and it does NOT.

I'm afraid I don't understand what that means.  Isn't that like saying it doesn't support MP3 or AAC?  Ultimately, it gets output as PCM, right?

I see the newest v2 firmware for the Roland has a balanced output mode option...right from the A headphone output, left from the B.

Just noticed that after another Head-Fi member mentioned it... comes as a pleasant surprise to me as that means it will be the first time I have ever had an amp or DAC/amp with balanced output.

Seems to make it an even better deal!

I'm still looking for reviews though... I don't want yet another DAC/amp that doesn't sound great :p The Super UA version got fantastic reviews, but I can't find any for the portable version (being sold right now).

They are hard to find, certainly.  Here's a good one in German which Google Translate translated decently:

And another in Japanese:

I spoke with Roland and this just takes the PCM from your source so yes it works with FLAC and MP3.

More specifically... your playback software (foobar, JRiver, iTunes, etc.) is what determines compatibility with FLAC, AAC, MP3, etc.

My comment was based on the single Q&A found with the product on the B&H site.   Someone asked the question and was responded that it doesn't.  Perhaps B&H helpdesk responded instead of the source (Roland).  If Roland says otherwise, I stand corrected.
