The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!

Yes it is an EU rule so UK could/might get rid of it but I don’t think they have yet, most if not all EU rules are still in place
That's right. But UK had to transpose the EU regulations into local law. And if local law has not been revised yet it is still compliant with EU regulations. I doubt this has been completely revised in the meantime considering the whole scope of regulations . Therefore some EU regulations may still be in place (even not directly). I can also imagine that Sony will not produce a UK only device. It is more efficient to deliver the EU version also to UK...

By the way: IMO the EU volume limitation is no longer an issue anymore on the Zx507 with latest firmware.... it is still there, but I am not bothered by this any longer

Think I’ll stick to my wm1z and wm1a. I don’t need android
Me too. There are plenty of easy-to-drive, full size headphones that sound top of the line with the current 1A and 1Z.

Which headphones have you personally used that you recommend? So far out of any of the full-size, open back headphones I've looked at at least, the Focal Clear MG seems to be the easiest to drive. Can't find many or really any others not demanding so much power.

The Sony MDR-Z1R, Z7M2, and Z7 all pair very well with the WM1A/1Z.

But that uses the MQA nonsense, right?

iBazo uses dual boot on some models, so it is possible if Sony's marketing people finds a market for this feature (i.e.: me :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

Same!
Yeah, it uses MQA. I Haven't tried it. I know the opinions are divided on that. But whatever the case may be regarding the quality of said format, I like to use streaming for exploring music and/or getting music which has become almost impossible to get in physical media.

I agree with recommendation of Z7M2. It pairs fantastically with WM1A. I'm enjoy then a lot. A rather full sound, with good separation of instruments. I never felt like it needed more power than what the WM1A can provide.

I use the Shure SRH1540 headphones with a Lqi balanced cable. I have the Sony NW-WM1A. At least one other person on here uses the same headphones with a Sony NW-WM1Z.

Just saw this in another thread. Rumored to be the new 1Z MK2. 98A6D256-583F-456B-A770-9A2B4329F15C.png9B5C497F-D3FF-4DEC-91F2-FE7079DCAD9F.jpegD7BA4033-0239-41CF-96FE-4DA42683B493.jpeg
oh no android, it's the only reason i bought WM1A
i'm tired of those android based players.
i love the simplicity of the UI on the current WM1 models

will only consider a mobile OS on my music players if it's run on iOS 🤪

Yeah, simplicity is nice. I enjoy Sony's proprietary OS quite a lot. However, streaming seems to be the big conditioning factor to lean towards Android.
