The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!

Anyone remembered how and when the A105 and ZX507 was announced? They were announced together right? I guess if there is a WM1Z Mk2, there's sure to be a WM1A mk2.

Would be cool to have a dual boot option. Having the option to boot into android or boot into the classic walkman, though I'll doubt that'll happen.

I hope bigger storage space for us folks with massive offline files or dual mSD tray.
Using the new S-master from SA-Z1
Usb DAC feature remains
Duql boot classic walkman os/Android - i doubt on this

It would be nice to see the 1A legacy live on in an upgraded model, I was just wondering if Sony will see value in only the absolute premium end with their 1Zmk2, and mid tier ZX507 mk2 as android would make potentially make the 1A redundant. Alternatively they may ride the success of the 1A and ditch the ZX507.
WM1A mk2 or WM507?
I'd say all three. They are very different propositions, imo, even with Android on board, if nothing else because of prices.

I figure they will do the same, meaning the 1A mk2 will just be the 1Z mk2 with different capacitors and wiring, minus the copper casework?

They will have streaming and maybe video? I have a feeling they will be smaller and less weight on both models?
Less weight sounds like an improvement. Smaller size too, although that doesn't seem as much of a problem. Also, for a smaller proposition, Sony has the zx507 on offer.

Yeah, dual boot would be awesome and, I think, not too hard to implement. Great idea!

Yeah, I continue to have zero interest in streaming, at least as how the current model is situated. As long as I remain IEM-only, the WM1A should be fine for me from a power output standpoint (haven't yet felt compelled to try any of the planar IEMs that likely need more juice). I have had the Sennheiser IE 900 for not quite a month. These really like power... I use high gain on my WM1A, and I feel it is sufficient, but I also wouldn't hate having more juice on tap.

I keep kicking around the idea of a MKII WM1x model....with Android. I change my mind about it every 12 hours or so, LOL. We're being pushed into a corner with this. If we want modern devices, we'll have to assimilate soon, hahahaha.

What I anticipate for the WM1A/Z Gen 2 is;
  • Android
  • Streaming features
  • Increased power output
  • Competitive battery runtime, not extended, potentially less than the current models
  • USB C (given)
  • Latest Bluetooth & LDAC Codecs
  • Little smaller
  • Little lighter
  • Similar or slightly raised pricing
  • Same SW/HW nonsense between the 1A & 1Z
Q-6
