I have listened to nearly the full range of the demo Canal Works and if it wasn't the salesperson who said to me "you will need an ear impression for your right ear and one for your left ear" to the question poised by me, which was, "if I order a few pairs, would one set of ear impressions do?"

I would have bought a few pairs.....................:blink:  

You should have told him you have a very rare case of identical ears. Your ears are strictly the same.

I don't know if only JM-Plus is the only one taking overseas impressions; my guess is that Null will probably accept them too, but I assume they won't be able to take orders for a while, as I know JM-Plus was under gag-and-ball for a while by CW until they were allowed to officially take orders. Mingo will probably accept international orders as well if you ask nicely? (Hopefully, dealing with a more informed individual than the one Gavin encountered, however...) As for Null, 2000 SGD is quite a bit. Then again, Mingo's margins are pretty high too. JM-Plus may possibly be the most affordable, but I don't actually know their official price for international customers; I do know, locally, they're pricing the QD around 42000 NTD, which is approx. $1400 USD? They have a Facebook page where they list their prices out...

After calculating it's almost the same amount , just a 50 SGD difference though . The 2000 SGD includes shipping and taking of impressions(in their shop, though they're not certified audiologist and you can also provide your own impressions if you don't feel safe with them)

Got back this past week... I've been tired/busy/etc. today was the first day I went to try out new stuff.

Well, if you're in SG, then going with them is the right choice, as anyone in HK should probably go with Mingo (even with their personnel). I'm just talking about other people who don't have a local point of sale...

Unfortunately the fact they don't is primarily why we have to deal with the distributors.

I'll most likely be getting an L05QD soon-ish, as it seems it's more or less what I originally expected the UERM to be, before I actually heard the UERM.**

I have the UERM and also listened to the L51 and the L05QD. Not sure what ohm the resistor is on the L51, but the sound was too muffled for my likings (..well many things sound muffled after listening to the UERM). The L05QD sounds like a flagship from the demos alone! It has less bass than the UERM (hopefully the real thing has more bass, but from my memories, the UERM demo has much more bass than the real thing), but they have a surprisingly similar sound signature, which I would call both a "ER4 on steroids". However, UERM actually has more weight in each note, and L05QD is what I would call a more "electrostatic" sound. Both soundstage, imaging, and details are amazing.

So it seems the L05QD is the best of the bunch? Really they should have a different naming scheme, all those model codes just go over my head, not to mention they're hard to pronounce as well.  
 

On a technical level, it essentially improves headroom on the 2354 driver by linking two groups of two 2354s in series and parallel, with what appears to be a voltage divider of some sort or some type of circuit that counteracts driver inductance.

  Actually that kind of wiring is to make use of the heavily inductive nature of the transducers. Generally speaking in the case of the 2 2354s in series, each 2354 'sees' the other 2354 as a low-pass filter, though I'm not sure why they chose the 2354s as woofers.
 
The voltage divider you're talking about might be some sort of dampening circuit for the other 2 2354s in parallel to dampen the highs (and to improve its sonic quality at the same time).

That's similar to how I heard it between the UERM and QD. I think some people would complain about a lack of bass depth on the QD, but not necessarily with the UERM, whereas the QD has the slight edge in imaging and the sheer "open" feel. I'd be absolutely torn between either one, though.

Ah, I see --- from what I've seen, however, series hookup in 2300 drivers is not that heavily inductive and both drivers end up with good bandwidth. Well, honestly, I don't really know what's going on in there; it's tough to examine that stuff closely when the wires overlap each other, but it does somewhat resemble what you mean. To me, it looks most like this, but might be another resistor in place of the capacitor:

Haven't heard Hidition stuff, but AFAIK the NT6 Pro is supposed to have a clear U-shaped response but with a clear midrange. The QD is not that way; it is more akin to an Ety-type response with a more open, expansive presentation and very slightly better bass depth.
