Hello everybody.

I am new here, but I have read yo for years

I have just bought a Dt 48 200ohm headphones with their original beyerdynamic vintage case. I do not know what year oromodel they are. It is in good condition, but the earpads are flat and deformed because of the time they were in their case, so they are useless. These pads are not glued, they can twist. I am thinking in make or adapt one of any other headphones (like hm5 or some AliExpress ones that fit...), but I had read that the SQ could change. Any suggestions?

Also, it has a 1/4 plug, and I need 1/8. What's better, change the plug or use an adapter?

I will use it with a LG V30.

I paid 35€ for them, is it a good price? I have 15 days for returning it for free.

Thank you in advance, and sorry if my English is not the best.

Pd: I also have other headphones like Fidelio X2, Fidelio L2, Sony 1000x, Sony h900n, Bose qc25, sol republic master tracks ...

That is an amazingly good price
I would highly recommend you buy new pads made for them. Here:

Original DT48 pads are still available from Beyerdynamic. Please use those, or you will never know what these cans are capable of...

Thank you very much.

I asked this because I have read in this thread, someone with akg velour earpads adapted who wrote they become more comfortable, with more bass and better soundstage.

Next week I will buy the 1/8 connector (or the adapter) and I will decide which one pads, because before buy anything I have to check if they have any problem.

What will you use to drive them? At 200 Ohms, they’re crying out for an OTL tube amp.

At the the moment, I will try them with a Kenwood home cinema amp or a Sony ta-e505 stereo amp because of the 1/4 plug. When I have that solved, I would like to use my lg v30, or my alienware pc (or a creative xfi surround pro), that sound good enough with my other headphones.
I hope that v30 could drive them well

Unless someone else also did the same, I might be that person. I took the screw off the back of a 48E.25ohm and tried the K172 pads. It warmed up its usually clinical'esque sound, though i personally find the 48E.25 tiny bit warmer/musical than the 200ohm (dt480) variant or 48A.5ohm
More comfortable relative to the original on ear, though i prefer the original over ear pads. But in saying that the screw off raises the mid bass slightly, and with those velour pads was nice on some music.
Stock 48A w/ original pads (over ear modern original Beyerdynamic I mean), and one 48E experiment (open back) w/ various pads, dt480 25/200 modded with dt150 cables and modern pads
