the WA6-SE should be more than enough for the Ed. 8.

i think SS would be better than tubes for it though

I am interesting in WA22. I am owning ED8. Should I go for WA22 if I have balance source or WA6SE is adequate.

Ed 8. and tubes are not a great mix IMO. They are too sensitive for tube amps and you can really hear a bass floor (even with the quietest tubes or tube amp).

Both amps are silent with normal headphones.

I tried with the sensitive Blox M2C earbuds just now - and the WA22 is making a hum - while the WA2 is still DEAD SILENT. Impressive, the WA2. I also have enjoyed the WA2 with Yuin PK1 quite a lot - though it looks absurd :p

Power-wise - you do not need the power of WA6SE or WA22 for the Ed8. High power stuff usually is a bit noisy, so...

Not sure I can agree with this.  WA22 with JH13 is dead silence for me.  What tube combo you are using?

The 5998 doesn't make any noise in the WA2 - so I doubt it will help. And it is a trafo-ish hum.

What kind of AC are on? I'm on 230V/50Hz

5998 is a higher gain, it may pickup some noise.  I'm 110/60 filtered by PS powerplant.

my WA2 is completely silent with any tubes i use, even rca 6as7 which are supposed to be noisy.

My hum isn't faint, though, but sure - tubes differ. Might not be the tube type - just the specific tube also.

Try plugging your WA22 directly into the wall for comparison?

I would lovd to but too much work, I'm lazy...
