lol in any case +12db of anything is way too much. But +12 at 20 isn't nearly as terrible as +12 at 200.

My temptation is to get rid of my D5K to try to step up to some Audeze.


However, as the D5k  went up in value, I feel that they will only continue to increase in price as time goes on, and I may be kicking myself in five years or so.

Not even close- M-100 for deeper, more impactful bass and greater midrange clarity.  Inspiration only wins on comfort.

get a lcd if you like it
 
than when the market condition is right, sell the d5000
 
or sell the d5000 for a profitable price
 
and get an used lcd at a price you'll be able to resell it, or trade
 
or just do the d5000 trade
 
lcds price will not rise as long as audeze is in business upgradeing, and/or lcdx is in production
 
and lcds are more likely to get tougher competition
