Needs some matching red silk in the grills.

I do really like the red cable though. It was my second choice when I bought my original Q cable from Steve for my LCD 2s awhile back. Goes nicely with the LF.

I'm interested in buying the LCD-2 but have a few questions for you experts.

What is the final verdict on the leather-free pads compared to the stock pads, is there really a drop in bass?
Other than aesthetics, is there any other advantage of one wood choice over the other?
Does the bass bleed into the mids?  This is one of the reasons I didn't like the HD650 and instead prefer the HD600.

Can't speak for the difference in the pads, I have the leather and they are really quite comfortable and seal very well. The bass doesn't bleed into the mids, as there is no mid bass hump (like the 650's). The bass on the LCD2's is some of the best in the business. But as with all hp's it will also depend on the amp used in regards to tightness and definition etc. There is no advantage over the wood types apart from maybe the bamboo is a fraction lighter in weight. Both look very nice, only personal preference.

How is the bass impact of the LCD-2 for electronica?  Is it more or less than the HD600/HD650?

I don't think they require any EQ for EDM...and I also think they respond poorly to EQ. I've never heard them sound better with it. I tried hardware and software EQs and the bass gets flabby...

Just need the right amp, me thinks.

Not too much, not too little. You'll discover what bass detail/texture is with LCD-2's and a decent amp. I find the headphones respond very well to EQ if you want to boost it for certain genres.

At first I tried to eq them but gave it up quickly.I think eq takes away the "realness" !
"Realness" as in sitting next to Jaco's bass amp and hearing the rattle of his fretless bass!

The LCD-2s have smooth, tight bass.  It doesn't have nearly the impact of a pair of Pro900s or D7ks, but the quality is much higher in my opinion.  If you get the right amp, the decay on them lends very well to EDM and fast paced music in general.
There's no difference in bass between the stock and vegan pads.
