The Astell & Kern AK240

I have two different 2.5mm balanced cables, one from Ultimate Ears and one from Ted at Headphone Lounge. Both give me intermittent static when twisting the plus. Is this a know AK240 issue?

Yes. The design is bad. There are a few anecdotal reports from people that have not had the problem with eidolic connectors but the jack choice (What, 4-pin 2.5mm) and design is just plain bad engineering.

This is why the stock JH Roxanne/Angie/Layla cable is so bad for the port, as it is 90 degrees weighted on by the bass adjust, so that the contacts inside are under constant torque.  Then as soon as you pick the unit up and not being careful, the plug will spin inside adding wear and tear.  This is why it is best to use straight plug in this case.

That actually will help, as it will also increase friction to hold the plug, thus less chance to have the pin spin inside the plug.

Also I am just going through their line up, and noticed that Beat Cable offers JH Rox/Angie/Layla connectors.  However, do you if they include the bass adjust like the one from Toxic?

I have a question that I believe has been asked before. My original 240 and my new SS both have this issue where the sound mutes for a second or so, usually at the beginning of a song. I seem to recall that someone posted this is an issue with v1.18, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am not using the balanced output.

I should add that this doesn't happen all the time but is intermittent.

I've experienced this. Not consistently can't feliably reproduce it. All ALAC files.

I ordered a Prima Donna, apparently the bass dials is in the splitter. Contact Stephen Guo. Will Pm his email.

This happens to me with my Mac and Fidelia player as well. I use RAID 0 SSD drive so disk performance is not the issue.
