True, but does the AK-240 dac have a more analytical and transient feel then the AK-120 dacs. The reason for me asking is because sound quality along with durability is my main objective.

I am sort of expecting the ak240 to have the sound I like so much from the ak 100 and the ak120 but just a straight line upgrade
e.g I don't want them to bright and analytical , I want the exact reverse of it

Maybe they figured they wouldn't sell that many at that price and manufactured a smaller batch, now maybe they wish they would have made more.

Cirrus logic CS4396 is used in high-end Marantz SACD players such as SA-15 and KI Pearl. The DAC that does Direct DSD; bypassing the over-sampling digital filter meant for PCM. This resulted in the purest DSD playback. You can check out the datasheet for CS4398 vs WM8741.
