My DX50 has the newest firmware installed. Not sure about the X5 (the X5 refused to read my SD card for some reason btw).

X5 supports only NTFS and FAT32, not sure if your card is formatted in exFAT.

Yeah it had the same color as the golden AK100. A bit less shiny.
They will never sell these golden ones, according to the AK employee.
 
Can't answer that either. It was fairly easy to use and responded instantly.
 
I listened to the Final Audio IEM and the big headphone through the 2,5mm balanced out.
I tried my SM64 through the normal headphone out.

So on the DX50, you were comparing the balanced AK240 to a single ended DX50?

I did not know that. Weird.

I will definitely not buy the AK240. I still can't justify the price and I also really don't have this much money to spend on a DAP.
This DAP is made for people who take this hobby waaaaay more serious than me. People who want even the slightest improvement in SQ no matter what it might cost.

Yes I did

Not entirely though. I also compared both with my SM64 through the headphone outs of both DAPs.

if I remember correctly , local rumous says that thing is the line out , its probably something for the ak to switch into line out mode for its ho , just like the hm901 dock

That black box is for balance line out in two XLR male. It uses the phone out for earthed or something.

I ordered mine from addicted to audio ( Australia) for $2999 AUD (~$2650 USD) ...expecting to receive it on the 3rd week of FEB...
