"We were told the price could be around $2400 in the US, so expect a UK price to be somewhere in that ball-park."

$2400!? That's ridiculous! I can't keep wondering what Ibasso could come up with at that price point though.

And also, the DX100 is not exactly what i would call beautiful, but this thing... I mean... damn!

UK Hi-Fi dealers will be licking their lips at the prospect of another cash-cow to milk from A&K... the UK GBP price normally matches the USD amount i.e $1200 = £1200+

The UK release price for the AK120 was £1400+... we were telling people to import them but the UK dealers & their trolls put people of with the Customs question, what people didn't realise is that if they would have imported legally from the USA/JAPAN etc. they would of paid around £1000 with Customs & Taxes... the greed of UK dealers should not be underestimated.

Yeah... got my AK120 from Indonesia for £700. Scored well on that one, could sell it and get my money back even with the devaluation due now the 240 is out.

This is making the hm901 look like the bargain of the century, 2x ESS9018 chip with stepped volume pot for half the price

With the price of the 240 I'm expecting an iRiver rep to arrive at my door in a Rolls Royce, velvet pillow in hand to upgrade the firmware with each new release. They wont be getting much feed back on issues with the price of that thing... won't be discussion forums to raid for insights into bugs and upgrades.

I was expecting more along the line of lifetime warranty, 5 years free battery replacement program,24/7 personal music assistance service for me to connect using wifi, concert info in city of my choice and advanced ticket purchase type service.

I'm holding out for eternal youth which will certainly be standard in the AK360

Actually the price ($2400) is not unreasonable. You can divide the price into three parts:

player/dac: $800
storage: $800
amp: $800

We are assuming this AK240 can compete with and exceed any 2-piece stack. LO is unnecessary.

See where you're coming from but as its all one unit it does not justify a pricing as though each section were managed, resourced and manufactured seperately. Not to mention that high quality headphone amps are less than $800 and memory should be less than $800 at the space on offer also, depending on the type used, don't think SSD's are going for that much. On top of that you have to take into account that iRiver is a well known company that already has labor, materials and manufacturing resources to hand. Have to give them props on raising the bar but without a good review I don't think the cost is justified.... if you can't watch videos on that screen and its locked into downloading from specific portals without access to the internet it will be a gross waste of real estate.

Yes! It will make music sound so good it will de-age and cause immediate metamorphosis... a Red Wine mod will make it sound so good you'll develop incredible hulk like strength .lol.

yes, and adding top of the line amp to RW moded AK240 will make the viagra pills redundant
