Crystal cable also partnered with AK to release 3.5 - 3.5 & 3.5 - RCA single-ended interconnects. Approx. 3000hkd for each. Based on piccolo diamond and voice for AK (yeah right).

Just shows how popular the AK240 is....every audio company wants a piece of the AK action...

Noticed that they are not using the 2.5mm balanced connection...only the 3.5 merged ground. What is the point of that?

Also the plug is the very cheap inexpensive and magnetic Neutrik plug...what's up with that?

They're using one of the most expensive wires in the world (Crystal) with one of the cheapest plugs money can buy (Neutrrik) and it's not even utilizing the AK's balanced output when the whole point of the external hookup would be to have isolated Left and Right ouputs to an amp or whatever. Doesn't make much sense...am I missing something here?

your missing the fact that the majority of people are very dumb and to them expensive = must be good/worth

They wanted a little inner competition of what's a poorer value... this or their $250 charging dock?

When a shopper buys a 3000usd jacket, he/she may buy a couple of 300usd t-shirts to go along with the jacket. When we only focus on the 300usd t-shirt, we may think it is overpriced...

I just found a very strange situation. If I have a disc with the tag marking all songs in a album as "Part of a Compilation", AK240 still shows every songs individually when I try to browse "Albums". They are all shown with the same Album name, but individual artist and song.

This makes me wonder AK240 doesn't honour the "Compilation" flag.

I don't get that behavior. My compilation albums show up in the Album list as a single album.

When you click on System Information, what do you see for capacity of Internal Storage? My AK240 reports "Total Space" of 229 GB. Shouldn't it be 256GB more or less?

Disk formatting as well as the OS will take up some space, so you will never have 256GB. Mine is 229GB as well.

Thanks. I expected it to be less than 256 for those reasons, but not to give up quite that much room.

The firmware is 130MB, so the 27GB must be something else.
Even the 1024kb = 1MB 1024MB = 1GB doesn't work, then you would end up with 244GB instead of 256GB.

On the other hand, my 128GB iPhone also has only 114,5GB available, so when you'd double the storage, you would end with the exact same 229GB. Maybe it's an Android/iOS thing, iOS is definitely bigger than the AK android version, but it appears the OSs block ±11% of the storage

(256x10^9)/(1024^3) ~ 238GB (http://www.ussscctv.com/hdccalc.html)

You'd roughly get 229GB after factoring in the disk-formatting & OS, to go along with the pre-existing files on the unit itself.

The box (left side) of the AK240 even states that:

"Not all memory available for file storage"

"1GB = 1,000,000,000 Bytes"

Hope this clears the issue of the AK240 having less storage space (229GB) than what was initially advertised (256GB).

CHG - perhaps you can help me.  I just received a new, unopened AK240 I bought on eBay.  It came in a larger Crystal Cable box that included the unopened AK240, the Crystal Cable and pouch - the same as in your facebook post above.  I thought I was just buying the AK240, but the CrystalConnect Reference cable and pouch were included - see picture below.  Inside the box is a small certificate of authenticity from Crystal Cable made exclusively for Paragon.  What do I have here? The cable is very heavy.  I assume it is not fake as I'm listening to the AK240 now and it's the real deal.  I just don't know about the cable.  Thanks for any help you or others can provide.
