It does say in the manual using EQ in DSD playback is not supported.

That's interesting. DSD playback goes via a different output circuitry?

I wish there was more DSD out there, I have very little so far.

http://store.acousticsounds.com/c/372/DSD_Download. This is where I have bought all my DSD music. Not a big big catalog, but they are adding 100s of records every month. Thriller album is awesome on the AK240 with the Roxanne. Also, I bought all of Norah Jones albums. They sound much better than the 192/24 versions on the AK240.

I did notice that only a few of the DSD's are from masters. Most appear to be conversions from a hi-res PCM like 176/24 ALAC.

Sweet, I have about 60gig of music loaded, got about another 30-50 to go. The strangest thing is going on. Miles Davis Bitches Brew, 96k aiff file, it played perfect on Foobar & my computer, I load it on to the AK-240, half the songs are static. It's the only one so far doing it. Weird.

You are right
Not all DSD is original from SACD , if conversion the SQ from DSD set different
Original SACD or DSD produce from Sony Japan in year 1980
Like Opus 2 or Opus 3 are two original DSD recording , my friend bought ak 240 after heard my ak 240 with these 2 Opus DSD files .
Sound quality so fantastic , DSD is the best music file I ever heard in digital era
Off course Vynil is still the best in term of SQ ever made
IMO

Hello Rudi my friend. Today I listened with the 334/000 to 24/96 music and was thrilled. One thing for sure the 240 does is let me know which music which I have, that is poorly recorded or I have a poor copy. I am going to change all my music to higher res and bit rate.

I do not have a DSD recording to try and you speak so highly of OPUS 2 & 3 where can I get those?

Where can I get

Aloha Saraguie

I got DSD OPUS 2 and 3 from my friend

Now you have high end DAP , please don't use like mp3 file sound not so much different if you use other DAP
The best file for AK 240 are :
DSD in 64 or 128 bit , now is 64 bit ready , I haven't try 128 bit
WAV in any bit rate / frequencies
AIFF is like WAV you can add album art
FLAC

IMO

Can you hear a difference between 24/196 and DSD?

DSD is the file AK 240 can play .
The SQ difference between DSD and hi res file is very big .
Ones you hear DSD you will not go back to other file
IMO

I personally prefer DSD files over flac too, especially from AK240 but I guess it's subjective. A recording engineer friend told me you can hear more details from 24/192 flac than the DSD counterparts.

All the music I bought was converted either from Analog or from SACD. Norah Jones albums, especially, were heavenly! There was one album by Patsy Cline that I really enjoyed on the AK240.

DSD sound quality more weight than 24 / 192 , DSD is effortless
I think of the same from SACD ripping to DSD vs 24 / 192 , DSD win I all aspect
IMO
