Hello everyone,

Just recently purchased an AK120 and like it a lot, but I've noticed mine only lasted 6 hours of playing time or so. I only have ALAC or FLAC files. Is my unit defective?

Another question, I know that the micro USB port is use for charging or USB DAC, but anyone knows if it output audio also; for use with external amp?

Thanks!
Leon

I think the play time is within the norm, and no, the USB is for input/charge only.

I guess the 1Plus2 isn't resolving enough

Your 1Plus2 is plenty resolving enough.  How about sharing your source?

I just purchased an AK120 recently and have been loving it. A/B comparison with an ipod is just really incredible.

I'm curious though... How do you all charge yours? I have been plugging mine into an ipod charger and it seems to be working fine. My brother, who knows more about voltages and batteries than I do said that it should be alright, but I was wondering if anyone else had any insight into charging.

Unless there is a short, you will be fine.  In fact, if you use a iPad charger or other ones with higher current, it will charge even faster.

Are you playing 24bit files are normal 16/44 flac/alac?  6 hrs do seems lower than what I am getting.  Never ran it straight through from full to empty but with on and off usage I can get at least 10 or 12 full albums to play until it ran out.  That should equal at least 8-10 hrs?

Any one had ran battery test to check?  It ran long enough that I never thought about doing a "proper" test.

That's only 50% of the advertised playing time.

90% of my files are 16/44. Once I turned it on to listen at work, I've left it on all day until it turned off by itself right around 6hrs.

Did it turn off due to low power or did it turn off due to being idle and then shutting off to conserve power? There are two settings for this. I think sleep and auto power off?

Since the 14 hours claim is based on FLAC, 16-bit, 44kHz, Volume 37, EQ Off, and LCD Off, you can try this and see if you can duplicate the result.  However, realistically I think are numbers is about right.
