I would hope this one has a line out. That is very simple to implement.

How did you listen to your vinyl? I dont know anyone who listens to theri vinyl using headphone.

You have to rip it to WAV or Flac. There is gear available to do this. Some of it is extremely pricy and will yield good rips as long as the quality of the Vinyl is good :). I generally find well ripped/mastered vinyl superior to its CD counterparts. Not even comparable IMO. But there are also exceptions to the rule and some of it sounds horrible lol.

Normally, I would also want to be able to bypass the DAC section too, but this one seems special...

OK so I have been listening closely to the 120 in the past 2 hours, I can confidently say that I am now hearing layered details that I've never heard before. I don't know if this is resulted from a  few hours of burn in time, but now I can hear definite improvement in layer and depth compared to 100. Not to sound exagerated, but the clarity is astounding. I am not really good at describing SQ, but you really have to listen to one to understand the improvement.

I've just come back from Munich where I spent some time with the A&K DAPs, they are nice sounding. But. I went to Munich to meet up with a dac designer, who is going to release a dual-diff ESS 32 bit dac, with class A output stage, hi-res async USB, optical/AES/spdif inputs and clock locked optical transport link, DSD input, rca and xlr out, hi-res OLED display, remote control, full pre-amp functionality and a whole host of sweet interoperability functions with their upcoming amps- they will want 450 euros for this little 10x10" anodised masterpiece.

The A&K 120 price point is in la-la land. I don't care how good it sounds, the MSRP is hovering around 10x the cost of manufacture and that is scandalous.

This is correct EU directive 99/44/EC (which e.g. Germany adopted in full, so did other counties, Austria, Poland, Denmark and so on...) also protects the consumer from falsely advertise electronics. You would have to sue AK or iriver in a civil court, though.

suing for such things in Germany or Austria would be costly and time consuming without guarantee for the outcome. For this reason you have here so called Consumer protection organisations who can help you exchange false product back for cash, they most likely will not support you in court as this is not their function and proving else damages will be highly difficult. this is not USA or UK or Asia... Welcome to socialist paradise pals... I was once suing european air career and it took my lawyer almost a year to squeeze them, and the lawyer was real good and in fact was senior partner at his own firm. so i would not recommend many try this as without excellent lawyer chances might be against you.

If the sound holds up, that is an excellent price and within reason.

The parts in the AK120 in no way represent the price being asked. It is an insult to those that don't realize how little the parts cost. I am sure it will sell and even if its sound is excellent, that does not warrant the very exaggerated price. I could see 799  for the AK120 and 599 for the AK100. There will be some daps from China that will sound very fine and cost less with the same and better parts quality. It isn't just that China can produce for less money but also a more down to earth hard costs to mark-up ratio.

How many inch is that OLED display going to be, size will be a major factor for OLED. I agree though, at this price point, AK120 should have come with a better display, keep it the same size but at least higher resolution. Right now my complaint is that it looks like at least to me there is no improvement whatsoever for the display. It is still a little sluggish on my unit, very similar to my AK100.

After I saw this about AK 120 I cannot go back on Fiio X5 thread.
I do hope they will bring something similar at a lower price.
We  had iRiver IHP 100/120 now we have Ak 100/120.
I take this iRiver then Hm901 any day.

Hopefully I will let you know soon whether that's a good choice :)

X5 will cost significantly less than AK120. If you can pay it, don't stop mate

I honestly liked pretty much everything I read but the price is beyond my student wallet.
