I'm curious, given the talk about how tough the duralumin shell is, whether any butter-fingered owners have managed to put a dint onto their AK240's?

Listened to my friend's Lab 1 today. Although only around 10 hours on it, the familiar FAD traits were instantly apparent. The mids were so so sweet. The Lab1 projected an immersive and intimate headspace....................very nice indeed.

A lot easier than the PF series to appreciate.

Synergized with the AK240 well!

I just purchased the AK240 and was curious as to how many hours of break-in time (hours) is required for optimal sound, and what break-in method is preferred?

I haven't been able to find any answers besides some joke respones. *eyeroll*

@Mimouille
, how does that work for u soundwise? I'm looking for a portable source for my SE 5-way, which is small enough to easly fit in the pocket. Did u test other cables, balanced for ex.?
I found little benefit to balance the SE5, both on 901 and AK240...source wise, 901, Tera, 240 and ZX1 all pair very well with SE5.

 100 hours and you may find the sound smoothen out.  Play it with repeating an album or similar way would do.  If you want to have the DAC works harder, use DSD files, however, you then need to plug power to ensure the machine can run over night (as battery can only last some 6-7 hours on DSD).

Quick question before I spend my money only to realize it won't work the way I need it...

Can you play the internal library while connected to USB on a PC?  Ie like the original AK100/120, connect, select charge and go about your business.  At home I would use it as a dac, but at the office I need the internal library.
