In my opinion they are close. In listening to some classical and jazz I know well, I think I can hear better separation on the BA200s but the GR07s may paint a better overall picture. It seems a touch more cohesive. Width and depth seem very close. I have read others say there is a big difference with the BA200s giving better depth and the GR07s having better width. I don't hear a huge difference.
 
In all honesty, if it weren't for the isolation and tip issues with the GR07s, I would have never even looked after having them. I like them alot and think they are a better build quality IEM. For the money they are exceptionally hard to beat. I like the BA200s better in the highs and overall balance department. I like the GR07 BE in the bass, cable and build quality. Still isolation is one of my top 2-3 priorities. I get sound as good or better than the GR07s in most areas with considerably better isolation and tip selection. Add to that the cost is $40 cheaper and I will stick with these. Ultimately I would prefer some Shure SE535 LTDs as they are my favorite IEM but I am not willing to stretch to that amount of money right now. I'm getting 95% (IMO) of their performance in all areas with a little lower build quality.

FYI, after more listening I confirmed the BA200s are sonically superior for my tastes vs the GR07 BEs. Even so, I miss that last little bit of bass. Also my pair has the right ear cutting in and out after less than a day. These are going back to Amazon and I will be on to the next IEM. I think I am going to have to step up and get some UE900s. They seem to do everything I want with a touch more bas stilt, better midrange and good airy highs.

I have to say, after getting used to the stock-biflanges, the BA200 is like a dream. no sibilance, not overly bright, detailed, reaches low, and excellent separation. 
 
one thing on my wish list is a non flat cabled BA200, or maybe the future BA300?

Sony XBA-3s are more Hi-Fi sounding which was contrary to TDK BA200 musical sounding.
 
Hi-Fi sounding mean it is bright, unnatural and might refer it as fatigue sounding to some.

For the type of insulation used, flat cables are better. My (very old) sennheiser cx550 have the traditional cables, made of a similar rubber based material, and its a tangled mess everytime I have to use them.
 
The best cables I've used so far are the Shure cables. Totally non-microphonic, and the material is low friction (slippery) so it never gets tangled.

true, but there is always the "alternating loop" (not sure what its really called) cable wrapping technique where any cable comes out untangled every time they're unwrapped, I still use the same technique on my BA200s since it kind of tangles a bit if coiled conventionally.

I just saw this post and want to chime in that I also use the alternating loop method to wind the BA200 cables and it does unwind easier.

Hi-Fi sounding mean it is bright, unnatural and might refer it as fatigue sounding to some.

Just wanted to reiterate there is some deep bass inside of the BA200, you just need some deep insert tips (like the Earportz) to retrieve it and pull it out. The BA200 is quite a value for an earphone you can currently get for under $150.

Which version of the earportz did you get? The TDK200's aren't listed.

 I only know of the stock version. I would get the variety pack, as the sizes can be off (I forget off by being too large or too small).

Amp or no amp shouldn't affect BA200 that much. It is designed to go well with any source.
