Where to buy:

For Chinese New Year Pro 82 celebration, please see here:

Great news!
TakstarAudio has extended their Head-Fi discount to SMSL Idea, both standalone and together with Pro 82:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/SMS...OS-SABRE9018Q2C-DSD512-32Bit/32809153098.html
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ori...g-K-song-game-stereo-headset/32808454492.html

New discounts are provided regardless of coupons and "seller discounts" available - just write "Head-fi" in the order message after placing the order and wait for the price to be adjusted!
Pro 82 (without case) + SMSL Idea - final price 138$ when using "free" shipping options
Pro 82 (with case) + SMSL Idea - final price 146$ when using "free" shipping options
Pro 82 (without case) - final price 65$ when using "free" shipping options
Pro 82 (with case) - final price 75$ when using "free" shipping options
SMSL Idea - final price 78$ when using "free" shipping options
If you choose the non-free shipping option, the price will be adjusted accordingly to reflect the shipping price.

Pro 82 with Idea seems like the best deal - total discount of 22$ from the list price!
And the best part - now you'll get them at the same time, and won't have to wait for one, having received the other!
Don't forget, the 99$ O2 is here: https://www.jdslabs.com/products/167/objective2-headphone-amplifier-b-stock/

EU residents can buy from Headphoniaks (79 euro with a case): https://headphoniaks.com/en/shop/takstar-pro82-2/

Couple hints for purchasing at Aliexpress:
1) Purchase from a seller that offers ePacket. Usually the free shipping options (China Post, Singapore Post and Aliexpress Standard Shipping) take 3-6 weeks to deliver worldwide.
ePacket usually takes 2-4 weeks.
2) Purchasing using Aliexpress mobile app gives an extra 1% discount.
Sometimes, there are additional mobile-only discounts.

Recently, I contacted Takstar directly via email to know their authorized sellers in AliExpress. Here is their reply:

Hi, I just registered here. I want to buy the Pro82 v2. Unfortunately it's very hard to find the v2. I haven't found any seller here in Europe with the v2 (I looked for the 1.6m cable, black box and 28 Ohm). On AliExpress the "TakstarAudio Store" seems to have the new version? (please confirm) But it's $64 without case ($74 with case), while the headphone is normally around $51 including case. Now I don't need the case but still. Does anyone know where I can buy the v2 version? Preferably cheap. If I order from China I'm gonna have to pay +19% import fee on top. Are there other sellers with the v2?

Welcome to the club!
Yes, this is Pro 82 v2 at 62.6$ here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32808454492.html
You can avoid/lower the customs by adding this comment when ordering: "Please mark the package value as 30$" (or any other value).
The case costs 10$ extra not just because it's expensive to make, but also because it makes the "free" shipping much more expensive for the seller - due to both extra weight and size.
You don't need it any way - TakstarAudio are the best when it comes to safely packaging headphones.

Stay away from Pro 82 with the box at 50$ - this is too cheap, you will likely be getting a v0.9 - which is v1 that failed QC.
That's what I got when I made a test purchase here https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32843865701.html

This Takstar employee probably just searched Aliexpress for Pro 82 and sent you the first result - this "GuitarLife" store is clearly a store specializing in instruments, just like at its top selling products:
Who knows for sure! Somehow this seller has various Takstar products for sale. And they have a positive rating of 98.1%.

...Somehow this seller has various Takstar products for sale.
Dozens, if not hundreds of stores have Takstar products
This store's selection of Takstar products is very limited - just 18 items.

... And they have a positive rating of 98.1%.
Why aim so low?

Damn, where does the time go?

...Okay, I will confess something: I was having affairs with other headphones.

Uh, yeah...Went a little IEM crazy. If anyone cares to ask me anything on these other lesser headphones, drop me a PM as all of those are definitely separate posts and topics (this IS the Pro 82 topic after all). Okay I'll say one thing, if you're looking for soundstage and transparency, stick with the Pro 82.

But my set of 2.5mm TRRS plugs finally arrived from China so I was able to get my Pro 82 V1 back in action. Glad I did too because there is one more set of non-pleather pads that give stock sound with little (or no) compromises. The Brainwavz MDRV6 Micro Suede pads: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TJG9Z6Y/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A2XYIDHW2C10EQ&psc=1

You just need the stock pads' plastic mounting rings and then slip on the Branwavz pads. It already has a foam filter stitched on so I had no need to add anything else.

This is the V1 with those pads on:
P82V1BrainwavzMDR.jpg

And this is my stock measurements:
P82V1STOCK.jpg

And for me, the V1 treble is now perfect. More detailed than the V2 but I no longer get that harsh feeling. And that's the last set of pads I'll mention on this topic, I promise!

Oh, and remember that Cooler Master headset? Evidently they discontinued them sometime early last month (?) and now only third party sellers have them. If anyone pays the hundred USD those sellers are asking for...that's some major disappointment incoming. Speaking of disappointment, I plugged up my second CM headset for comparison and noticed the left and right channels being slightly unbalanced on volume...and found out it's the 3.5mm jack going bad. WHAT THE FFOIGROINVBWO:INWRIUIUB- So that's 0 for 2 on the CM headsets.

Finally, I remember mentioning writing a review sometime in May? I'm finally going to post something of a review within a few days. I just wanted a different approach to it since I don't want to sound like I'm repeating everyone else's posts.

Why should I?
I'm not a Takstar employee.
It is in customer's best interest to purchase from a store with the best reputation.
Why would Takstar employees care?

Seems like you've got an endorsement with TakstarAudio Store!
I keep endorsing TakstarAudio because:
1) They are the ones who introduced us to Pro 82 v1, Pro 82 v2, GM200 and HF580
2) They always get new shipments from Takstar first
3) They never fake-ship (many stores have done this during the "unobtanium" period)
4) They never sold the cheap Pro 82 v0.9 - which is v1 that failed quality control (some stores still do)
5) Their level of packaging is unparalleled
6) Great communications in proper English

This seller doesn't ship to India!
If they don't ship them to your country, ask them to open shipping to that country - it's probably an oversight

How is the comfort of the The Brainwavz MDRV6 Micro Suede pads?
Do they go for hours without sweat?

Curious

Any headphone pad that's thicker than 25mm is too dummy thicc for the Pro 82. In fact, probably too dummy thicc for a lot of headphones.

And you think the micro suede would leak out more sound like velour but I was surprised how well they seal. I dare say they seal as well as the stock pads. I was able to keep the Pro 82 on my head for a good four hours while playing some games and I never had to take off the headphones from heat discomfort, so I'd say they passed the heat test. I should also mention that if I put headphones on, they get sweat on them no matter what (unless the southwest has an Alaskan cold front in January - actually we may be getting one of those this coming week).

You've probably figured out already that I only targeted fabric pads so I never tried those sheepskin pads out. If you do pick those my educated guess is that they'll work just fine with the Pro 82.
