I am buying an sr-007 mk1 soon. I don't have another $1000+ to spend on an amp. What are some good $300-$600 amps to pair with it? I have a good source already.

Thanks

Two-year-old thread bump aside...

-$600 might be enough to get an SRM-T1. Some have said that that's probably the most affordable amp that can even hope to drive an SR-007 properly.

-You might be better served asking in this thread. That's where all the Head-Fi Stax enthusiasts tend to hang out, and they have far more familiarity with the higher-end stuff than I do.

A Stax SRM1 Mk 2 Professional is your best bet, and have the elecrolytic power supply capacitors replaced at the same time. It's very good.

I though a refurbished SRM-T1s was better with 007 than the SRM-1 Mk2 Pro which lacked dynamics and energy with 007.  The T1 was almost as good as a baseline Woo GES that we compared it to, although both were still underpowered for 007 if you like it loud.

I have purchased STAX Lambda Pro , STAX SRD7 Professional and STAX SRP.
I have 2 tube powered SET mono blocks and and passive preamp.
Therefore would like to connect the Lambda directly to the CD player (http://www.pacificvalve.us/DOGE6.htmlusing Stax SRM1/MK2 or other models rather than using the SRD7 .
Does it make sense? Where should I purchase a Stax SRM1/MK2?
Thank you for your advise.

You
Can I connect  my Lambda Pro with STAX
SRD-7
to a CD player via RCA out
 (

)
.

instead of connecting it to my speaker mono block amps ? or do I need STAX SRM-1 . MK-2 for that?

thanks
you need an amp with higher voltage output than a 2v RCA line out. Something that does at least 4-5 Watts.
