Well, that's the question though - does Japan sell L700 earpads as a separate accessory? If anyone is able to answer, I would like to know. It's not anywhere on the internet.

They do sell them to Mit.

Update: I have received the ifi adapter. It works fine. my setup foobar2000->Chord Mojo-> L300 !!!

So the L700 pads on the L300 change the sound for the worse? That's what somebody said a few pages back. There are a lot of pad mods on the L300 out there so I can't imagine L700 pads changing the sound signature to a significant degree. Anybody have experience with this?

I like L300 with L700 pads more than L700 with L700 pads - it has more clarity.

Thanks for the tip about MIT. I was hesitant to spend the $1,400 on the L700. The L300 with L700 pads is much less of an investment and you probably get 80% of the L700 anyway it seems.

I hear the differences between the different Lambda models are fairly subtle and the biggest leap in quality comes when you jump to the much more expensive Omega models. But you apparently need a Nuclear power plant to drive the 007 and 009 models. Or spend a fortune on the KGSSJKABCDEFG or whatever they call those uber amps.

That said, I used to have a 207 and the 404Limited Edition and thought the 404 was much better. The 404LE is rare but I think someone was selling one in the classified recently. It's considered one of the better Lambdas. I definitely miss it.

L300 with L300 pads sounds very transparent, but lacks bass
L700 with L700 pads sounds significantly warmer, possibly because of much better bass.
L300 with L700 pads is the best of both worlds.

Comfort definitely. its deeper than the L300 original pads. And that is pretty much the main reason for me.
