It almost fits, but not really lol. He was very nice about it though and offered many options to get it fixed so it's fine. I'll try to find some sandpaper around the house and see if I can sand it down a bit to make it fit. I would send it back to Martin but I've really missed my Grados and don't want to go another week without them.

Should I sand some of the plastic off? Or the wood?

I would sand the wood. Actually, I probably wouldn't.. wood makes me super nervous. But, I'm sure you are fine to sand some of the wood off and your cups should fit right in. Make sure you sand off enough and avoid really forcing the cups into the shells, I would hate to see you crack them. (they look very sturdy, but all wood has its breaking point)

@sysfail

Just my opinion but if you heated the plastic a little more, you could get that second piece of plastic off of your driver easily. This would be much more pleasing visually I think. They would be less deep, but also gets rid of some unneeded plastic. Thats how my slipons are and I could not be happier with them.

@sidel Thanks...... I am shocked that they turned out soo beautiful....

@sysfail Sorry I guess my eyes are failing me. I thought you had the driver piece and the extention piece IN your bloodwoods. It appears this is not the case and I am sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

You should have just contacted Marty directly, first, before taking this issue to the forum here.  He will take care of you - just give him a few minutes to get back with you.

There are things in life that could be much worse.

Definitely sand the wood with 220 grit sandpaper, fold up a piece and hold the cup with one hand, hold the sandpaper with your thumb inside the cup... you'll be in business in 30 minutes.

Hand made items like this are not perfect, thats what makes them so **** cool... and affordable.

 I have been speaking with Marty and he's really embarrassed by the mistake and will make sure it doesn't happen again.  He does offer 100% satisfaction, and I have confidence that he will make sure that all his customers are well taken care of. Highly recommended for some of the best looking and most custom cups around. Great guy.

Yeah there was no problems with Martin or anything, just bad luck lol. Someone was telling me I shouldn't have spent more on different shells when I already had a pair.

Well I've spent a few hours sanding down everything and the drivers finally fit nice and tight so I don't have to glue anything. Here are the pictures!

Excuse the poor cell phone quality pictures lol.

For cellphone pictures those are pretty good (: Do you hear a discernible difference between these shells and your previous one? Try and be slightly more harsh on your impressions to compensate for placebo.

And by the way those look really good

Compared to the old Cocobolo ones, they sound more brighter and detailed with a little more soundstage. Bass seems like it got lighter as well. Kind of miss the nice bass "punch" from the old ones. They look really wonderful though in person. I think I might switch them up for Cocobolo again haha.
