Anyone who's order Cabillas cups before happen to remember what the last tracking update said before the cups were delivered?

I'm also waiting for the Spanish courier to update their tracking information. Cabillas sent them on the 30th of last month and my last update was on Jul 6, stating Salida de la Oficina Internacional de origen/Departure from the International Office of origin
Looking up the same tracking # on USPS yields Origin Post is Preparing Shipment

I had kind of the opposite take on the cups and cable. I got a wow effect from the cups.. and I didn't feel like there was too much of a change with the cable, but i did have a source upgrade at the same time. silver definitely made a difference on my portapros so i'm sure it didn't hurt the grados at all :)

Yeah, it's weird. I would have expected the opposite as well. Don't get me wrong, the wood really made these come together, but I feel it was in more subtle ways than the cable.

In which order did you do the mods? I'm wondering if that has anything to do with our perceived differences. Because the cable upgrade was not just the isolated improvement in the cable, but also how it synergized with the previous wood mod. Either way, the entire package is leaps and bounds better than what it started as. I'm going to get to A/B these with a bone stock SR60i this weekend so I'm definitely looking comparing them.

I let a few co-workers test drive them yesterday. One of them was so blown away that he went home last night and researched headphones for a few hours. When I got in this morning, he was ready to pull the trigger on some RS-2's, until I convinced him that it may be more fun to mod his own. I let him compare them side-by-side with my stock SR225s that I brought in. He thought that the woodied SR60's blew them away.

I've realized you really can't rely fully on that Spanish tracking system.  Basically, allow 10 - 11 days from when Cabillas sends you the cups until you receive them.  With that being said, it looks like I have to wait another day (until Saturday) to pick mine up from the post office.  When Cabillas sends the package, a signature is required as the post office will not leave them on  your step ... unlike some other courier services that I know of.

With that being said, I've been informed of a "special" delivery awaiting me when I get home later tonight.  Just some hints ...

  1. It didn't come from Billa ... what's his name again?
  2. It features "some" Grado components in it - maybe, as little as 20% Grado.
  3. It features custom lathed circular gimbals.
  4. It features brass rods on the gimbals
  5. It features two types of wood on the cups.
  6. It was sent by someone named Mmmm .... Mmmm ... MMmmmarrr ...   Mmmmarrrrttttt .......

I just stubled upon this thread, and Xaval, about the cable, the original cable was the stock cable with some white sleeving that was causing it to break apart and it sounded pretty dull compared to the new one - I don't have the specs for the raw cable I used for the re-cable i did, but i can assure you that the new cable was a massive improvement!

As for what Martin is doing? Well, I'm keeping him busy with what has become a 900$ order. A GS1000i style headphone with HF2 drivers, made of jet black Gaboon Ebony and Bloodwood with black lambskin headband and of course G-cushions. I am hoping to pair it with Silver Dragon cables and Travagans Red and Black amp for matching color both cosmetically and sonically. I can hardly wait to see the result - But he is currently having some trouble getting a wide enough chunk of Ebony

Actually, it will be a "trial" period of review and reflections.  Just a few weeks back, I sent on a pair of MS-Pros to another member for his trial on those.  I'm really looking forward to this - being able to see, feel and hear the quality of some great Grados.  As with most of my approaches, this will all be accomplished objectively.

Meanwhile, I'm still at work coding reports - I have the SR-225s with the Cabillas cups and the FiiO E11 keeping me motivated and moving.  I've realized I just hit 12 hours here about 15 minutes ago.  Time to bail out, soon.

Hey test drive is the best deal you can get! I think you'll be amazed with quality of Martin's work. Granted, there may be cheaper ways of getting your wood, but with Marty you'll be traveling in style

All I can say is WOWOWOWOWOWOW! that are so amazingly perfect!

Unfortunately my Mother in Law is arriving tonight... so I'm sure I'll get NOTHING accomplished this weekend

edit: on the "Marty has class" note... the cups arrived in a fancy cardboard box with his company sticker on it... the man sure has style!
